Pie charts

By Dominic Corrales

What are they?

pie charts are used to compare groups of data to the whole.

Why are they used?

they are used to compare percentages. and all the portions of the chart must add up to 100%

How do you read a pie chart?

a lot of people forget that pie charts are used to compare a percentage to a whole the whole usually being 100%. and the 100% percent doesn't mean 100 hundred people it could just be a small group of 10. for example there is a group of ten people 5 play baseball the 5 others don't which means it is now in half. so it like this picture. also try to think of it as a pizza or candy bar if i eat 1/4 of the bar i have at 25% of the candy bar.

How do you make one correctly?

your pie chart must include percentages only . they also need to include of course a circle. all portions of the chart must add up to 100%. here is a very helpful video too
