WMS Weekly Warrior

Week of 2-10-20

Good afternoon,

This week the students at WMS along with students from other schools in Region 14 are participating in a REDOUT. REDOUT is a multi-district fundraiser to support and raise awareness for Leukemia and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. On Friday, February 14th, students are asked to wear red in support of this campaign. Students will hear a presentation in their Family and will have the opportunity to donate in various ways. Please encourage your WMS student to do their best in supporting this multi-district initiative. A flyer with more info is below.

Eighth grade open house at Nonnewaug is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the NHS auditorium. WMS students and parents are invited to visit NHS to learn more about course offerings and the learning environment. Please do your best to attend this informative evening?

Ninth Grade Course selection is scheduled for March 3rd and March 4th at WMS. Individual meetings will occur and include the NHS School Counselor, the parents of the student, and student. Meeting topics will include freshman year courses and four-year plans and goals. Please look for a letter being sent home with your child’s scheduled date and time.

Please note PIM meeting scheduled for 2-11 is cancelled.

Reminder that Monday, February 17th School will be closed for winter break and Presidents Day.

The eighth grade dance committee met last week. The following is being sent on behalf of the dance committee:

We are pleased to announce that the 8th Grade Dance will be held at The Heritage Hotel in the Timber Room on June 5th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. The dance committee met last week to discuss details regarding fundraising. Successful fundraisers and donations will determine the final price per ticket.

It's never too early to donate! For those able, please make checks payable to Region 14 School District and include 8th grade dance in the memo.

Have a great week,

Leo Club Backpack Collection

The Woodbury Middle School Leo Club is collecting lightly used backpacks or drawstring bags as part of a drive to prepare care packages for the less fortunate this winter season. Club members will collect and fill the backpacks/bags with various care and hygiene products, and will deliver them to area shelters for distribution. Care packages will be assembled for men, women, and children, so any style of backpack can be donated.

Any donated bags can be dropped off in the Culinary Arts Room, # 115.

On behalf of the WMS Leo Club, we would like to thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Caroline South and Mike Hadoulis
