Plate Tectonics Project
Continental drift is the movement of the earth's continental relative to each other by appearing to drift across the ocean bed. Abraham Ortelius thought that the continents drifted away from each other. In 1915 geologist and meteorologist Alfred Wegener first proposed the theory of continental drift. I've learned that for many years of his life he tried to get people to believe his theory, but no one did. After his death he was correct, but not about the drift about the evidence of fossils. Plant and animal fossils were found in different continents around the world. The animal fossils were fresh water fossils so therefor the animals must have been spreading because the ocean was salt water. The seeds of the plants couldn't have spreaded around the continents so that means that the continents have to have been connected together in order to have plants and animals of the same species on different parts of the earth.
Sea Floor Spreading
It is a process that occurs at mid-ocean ridges where new oceanic crust forms by volcanic activity. It forms new igneous rocks at mid-ocean ridges by injection of magma that forms new seafloor. As magma rises it cools and solidifies adding to the edges of the sideways plate. After the magma pushes away at the structures it creates new ridges and crust.
plate tectonics is a theory that explains the structure of the earth's crust. They think that convection currents may be the result of plate tectonics. It's associated with phenomena as resulting from the interaction of a rigid lithosphere. It's a scientific theory that describes the large-scale motion of the earth's lithosphere. Scientists believe that the earth is millions and millions of years old. They have proof. They measure between 1 and 100 of the movement in which the earth moves in one year.
