STATE TESTING SCHEDULE
Wednesday, April 12: SAT (11th graders) Due to late start, lunch will be late this day, we are sorry but we cannot stop in the middle. *No school for 9, 10 and 12
Thursday, April 13: PSAT 10 (10th graders) & CMAS Science (11th graders) *No school for 9 and 12
Friday, April 14: PSAT 9 (9th graders) *No school for 10, 11 and 12
Boulder Valley School District requires a written request to opt a student out of testing. Please submit your written request by completing this form for each student you wish to opt out of testing. Families are asked (though not required) to arrange an excused absence from school on testing days they have opted out of, and provide appropriate alternative activities of their own if their child will not be participating. If you have questions about these assessments, I encourage you to reach out to Dr. Cara Maronek or Ailey Ruger.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
We are looking for volunteers to help organize and coordinate Teacher Appreciation Week for our wonderful staff. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our Office Manager, Michelle Coates (michelle.t.coates@bvsd.org).
MONARCH AFTER PROM EVENT
The annual After Prom event for Monarch High School’s seniors and juniors will take place following the Prom on April 29 from 11:30 pm to 2:30 am at Monarch High School. With the support of our community, parents transform Monarch into a fun-filled, late-night party with games, music, food, and prizes for more than 600 students. Tickets are only $10 per student! MONARCH HIGH POMS
This event, hosted by Miss Colorado Teen America Allison Carlson, features hip-hop and poms performances from Monarch Varsity Poms dancers, an appearance by the MoHi varsity cheer team and a production number by the MoHi Mini Poms. The showcase begins at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Monarch High School. Come see these outstanding dancers!
APPLICATIONS FOR BOND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
Community input and oversight have been cornerstones of the district’s successful capital improvement programs. BVSD is again looking for community members to join the Community Bond Oversight Committee to provide monitoring and review of projects described in the $350M 2022 Critical Needs Plan. Through its work, the committee provides a high level of accountability and transparency to the BVSD community on behalf of the district and Board of Education.
What you need to know:
CBOC will meet quarterly initially. Upcoming meeting dates are Wednesdays, May 17, Sept. 20, and Dec. 13. Meetings are held from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., in-person at the Education Center, 6500 E. Arapahoe Rd., Boulder
Membership includes parents, teachers, principals, representatives from all BVSD communities, and former Capital Improvement Plan Review Committee members. Professional experience in fields related to capital construction such as architecture/engineering, business, construction, and accounting/financial management is a plus.
Members serve 2 and 3 year terms.

2023 WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE
Registrations are NOW OPEN for this year’s Women’s Empowerment conference! All female and gender-queer students are encouraged to attend on March 17th. Join 300 other students across the region! MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCACY ACADEMY
Active Minds is hosting a Mental Health Advocacy Academy for high school Black, Indigenous, and/or people of color (BIPOC) and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth this summer. The Academy is a paid, leadership opportunity intended to ensure that high school youth have tools and resources to develop mental health advocacy campaigns that will transform change in school, community, and state culture and increase mental health resources. The Academy will be held virtually from July 24 - July 28, 2023. More information and the application can be found here. The application deadline is March 21, 2023. Seats are limited to 100 youth.
Seniors at Monarch's High School of Business's are given the opportunity to put all of their knowledge and creativity to work by developing their own businesses from start to finish.
The Coyote Gear company is a company run by seniors with a mission to unite our community through a common interest of school spirit and simultaneously enhancing our high school of business program. 2023 BOOSTER BASH-TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE!!
The Monarch Booster Club will be hosting their Annual MoHi Boosters Bash on Saturday, March 18! This fundraiser will benefit the general fund of MoHI Boosters, which supports all clubs and activities at Monarch. This year's theme is Denim and Diamonds!
MONARCH'S MOCK TRIAL TEAM
Congratulations to Monarch’s mock trial team for their third straight year in qualifying for the state tournament, placing 13th out of 25 teams. Monarch won rounds against Regis and Broomfield, and narrowly missed beating finalist Colorado Academy by two points. This year's case centered on the Varsity Blues college entrance bribery scandal. Individual awards went to:
Team Captain Sahiti Balaji, Best Defense Attorney, (1st place), (Best opening statement (2nd place)
Team Captain Elizabeth Kugler ( Best Defense Attorney, 5th place)

IMPACT ON EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Attention seniors interested in TREP or ASCENT!
If you haven’t already applied and are interested in applying for either program, please reach out to me as soon as possible.
Attention 9th, 10th and 11th graders who are interested in planning ahead!
ASCENT is a program through which you can get one year of college paid for at FRCC or MSU. You have to take at least 9 college credit hours while you are still in high school.
TREP is a program through which you can get two years of college paid for at FRCC, MSU or CSU Pueblo if you are studying to be a teacher or school counselor. During senior year of high school, you have to take at least one class from a specific list of classes (listed on page 3 of this slideshow) to be eligible to apply for this.
