Blue Valley students receiving national awards
Blue Valley students are excelling both inside and outside of the classroom, and are being recognized with highly distinctive national honors across various focus areas.
- Blue Valley Southwest senior Yaseen El-Demerdash and Blue Valley West senior Manya Gauba were selected as 2021 Coca-Cola Scholars, a program that only 150 students in the entire nation are selected to annually. Coca-Cola Scholars are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities and awarded a $20,000 scholarship.
- Several Blue Valley students/organizations were selected as National Scholastic Press Association award winners for the best work in scholastic journalism nationwide. These Blue Valley students/organizations placed first in the entire nation in the 2020 NSPA Awards.

May regular Board meeting and open forum information
The Board of Education will host its regularly scheduled May meeting on Monday, May 10 at 6 p.m. at the District Office. Patrons are invited to tune in virtually through the district’s livestream. Please note, due to social distancing, in-person seating will be limited to those staff members being honored with an award or recognition and patrons who have signed up for open forum through the Open Forum Request Form (up to 20 participants). Masks are required to be worn at in-person meetings.
Patrons who would like to address the board may do so through Open Forum. Open Forum occurs at every regularly scheduled monthly board meeting and provides one hour (approx. 20 participants; 3 minutes each) of allotted time on the agenda for individuals to address the board in-person. If you would like to address the board, you must complete an Open Forum Request Form online. Request forms will open at noon one business day prior to the scheduled meeting and will close at noon on the day of the board meeting or once speaker capacity has been reached.
