A MESSAGE FROM MR. LUCITA

Good Evening Parents and Students,

Our first week of Summer Band was outstanding! Our students did an incredible job of following all procedures that had been put in place for the safety of everyone. I want to tell everyone “Thank You” for making our first week such a great one. Let’s make week two even better!

I do want to address COVID as it is still a significant item in our daily lives. Although we never want to have anyone contract this virus, it is reassuring to see that, due to the policies and procedures we have in place, and the fact that our students are following them daily, all of our students are kept as safe as possible!! Kudos to them for their great work!

This week we will make a slight adjustment to our Master Class schedule for our students. In an effort to ensure the highest level of instruction and to maximize our musical results, we will break our Master Classes into two different levels. Students need to choose which Master Class they will attend. They only need to attend one of them, but they may attend both if they choose. A link to all master classes will be emailed shortly. Please be on the lookout!

Level 1 This master class will focus on technique and fundamentals

Level 2 This master class will focus on the Texas All State music

Make sure everyone checks the calendar and plans ahead. Summer band has two more weeks of in-person rehearsals followed by one week of Master Classes only. We will then start our regular after school rehearsals on Monday & Thursday! Let’s make this week even better than last week!

Let's have a great week!

Mr. Lucita

What Should I Do TONIGHT to Get Ready?

1. Bookmark on your phone (or, your student's phone) the Jaguar Band Daily COVID Screening Protocol form. DO NOT submit this form tonight. It MUST be submitted EVERY MORNING your student comes on campus for Summer Band by 7:45 a.m.

2. Make sure your student knows how to do laundry so she or he can wash their Band Booster-provided mask and bell cover after each use.

3. You must LABEL masks, bell covers and jugs! Anything left at the band hall without a name will be thrown away out of an abundance of caution.

4. Sign up to help with Summer Band! Please help the Jaguar Band have a safe and efficient summer band experience! Sign up to assist with summer band set up, check-in, staffing the Band Aids tent, or helping sanitize and break down the tent. https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/10c0d4da5ad2eaaffc61-summer/85925063

COVID-19 INFORMATION

SECTION LEADERS will distribute masks with resealable velcro slits this week for all wind players, except flute players. Each student who receives this type of mask will receive two. Percussion, Color Guard and Flutes will receive a second mask with no slit as soon as that order is delivered. All wind players that can use a bell cover should have received their bell covers by this time. It is each student's responsibility to label and keep track of their masks and bell covers and bring them to each in-person band rehearsal. Replacement masks and bell covers will need to be purchased. Replacements will be available on the band website store soon.

Please bookmark the link to the Jaguar Band Daily Covid-19 Screening Protocol form: https://www.johnsonbands.com/daily-covid-screening

Every time your student comes on campus for Summer Band

  1. Stop and confirm you completed the Daily COVID Screening with a band booster volunteer.
  2. Temperature check with a Director (these are 2 steps done by 2 different checks/computers/people)
  3. Once cleared, students may exit cars and parents are OK to drive away.
