The Riverwalk Roar
November 17, 2019
Note from Dr. Compton
Pride,
I spent the weekend officiating a swim meet here in Rock Hill. I love officiating swim meets because I get a front-row seat to see my daughters swim. I also was able to see two of our students, Wyatt Krashner (7th) and Mia Lewis (10th), swim. In addition to getting a front-row poolside seat to see those swimmers, I also spent a lot of time thinking and reflecting as I was standing there for about 11 hours total.
Parents, our staff spent our time together on Friday afternoon using your post-POL feedback to help us improve our practices. We began norming and vertically aligning our expectations of our students’ soft-skills through their presentations of learning. We're planning to create a student profile document that outlines the different presentation/POL expectations at the different grade levels.
While I applaud the good work that's happening at Riverwalk Academy, I also recognize that we still have lots of work ahead of us to become the school that I know we can be. Like Benjamin Franklin said, "If better is possible, good is not enough." I know better is possible.
Your feedback is invaluable and because of this, I'm asking for your assistance. Please consider spending 5 minutes answering these 5 questions. Your feedback helps guide our work and lets us know if we're meeting your expectations. In advance, I thank you for your time.
Pride, let's have another outstanding week!
Sincerely,
~Dr. Compton

We had a few days of cold rainy weather and our safety patrol didn't skip a beat. They were outside before the sun came up ready to greet our students and parents. Thank you safety patrol for all that you do.

Reading to our Cubs
Make sure you check out our new weekly series, Reading to our Cubs. We release these videos each Sunday at 7:00 pm on Facebook. Tonight's story is sure to be a treat.
Thank A Teacher
Let's show our GRATITUDE to the amazing teachers at Riverwalk by sharing with them all of the reasons we love them.
These wonderful teachers spend so much time and energy making sure our children are cared for each day. Now is the chance to really show the LOVE by telling them just how much they mean to us!
Linked is a "Coloring & Compliment” sheet that can be designed and filled out by your child. Color the turkey in a fun and creative way… anything goes! Then, use the space below the turkey to share a few words or sentences that will let YOUR teacher know how THANKFUL you are for them!
Please return completed sheets to the Front Office Box (labeled “Thank a Teacher”) no later than Friday, November 22nd.
