Holiday Wishes and Blessings!

We are so proud of all our students have accomplished so far this year! They have been working hard in their classrooms to meet individual, classroom, and campus wide goals. Our teachers are busy spending time each week learning together as teams and sharing their excitement for learning with their students as they carry out the plans they are creating to help each child learn and grow.

My wish for this newsletter is to be able to convey to each of our families how blessed we all feel to work with a staff that is so committed to meeting the needs of our students and our East families. As I shared last year and it still remains to be true - I have seen this staff come together many times over the course of this school year to extend a helping hand to families and staff members in need and to go well beyond the scope of what they've been hired to do to love on your children. East is truly a special place and we are grateful that you trust your most precious gifts with us!

We hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your families. We love your children and look forward to what 2019 has in store. Thank you for being a part of our team!

After that screening competition at the end of January, the top 3-5 performers in each event (depending on the event and UIL regulations) will continue on to the district meet at Pine Tree on Friday, February 15th and compete against students from other East Texas elementary schools.

East Holiday Store!

Next week is full of fun! We will start our holiday store on Tuesday and will wrap up Thursday night at our Polar Express Night - all sponsored by our fabulous East Elementary PTA. Every class will have an assigned time they can shop on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The store is stocked with wonderful, very affordable, small gifts that students can purchase for their own family members and friends. More information will come home soon from our PTA about the schedule for shopping and what to expect. In addition to the assigned time they will have to shop with their class, everyone is welcome to shop during our Polar Express night on Thursday evening.

Watch D.O.G.S at East

In the last month, our campus has been filled with amazing men who have volunteered their time to support our campus. I can't tell you how impressed we've been with our dads that have jumped in and helped with everything from making copies, to making Turkey shirts, reading with kids, helping with math, and many more everyday events that occur here on campus. If you are a dad, grandpa, uncle, ... interested in volunteering your time here at East please contact Barbara Stevens at bstevens@hisd.com or call 903-668-5990, ext. 1601. We can't wait for our spring semester!

Mid-Year Reminders

Thank you so much for all of your support to help our campus run as smoothly as possible! Here are a few things we've noticed that we wanted to remind you of:

  1. Please label all coats and jackets to help assist us in getting them back to their owners!
  2. All transportation changes need to occur prior to 2:30 p.m.
  3. Only PreK parents are allowed to park and drop-off/pick-up their students and we need the PreK students to be walked all the way across the crosswalk.
  4. If you plan to eat lunch with your child, please remember to sit in the designated area and that you may only eat with your own child.
