Week of September 30th
Another great week at Brent! It was wonderful to see so many of your kids participating in the Homecoming activities. I saw many during the parade, community celebration and football game.
This week, students were able to shop at the Brent Buck store for the first time. It's safe to say they were eager to shop and thoroughly enjoyed it! Please continue to encourage your students to display expected behaviors at school so they can enjoy the shopping experience!
During arrival, please remember to be safe! We have little ones that are not always aware of the cars around them. If you're dropping off a student through the car line, pull forward until Ms. Battistone has you stop. If your car is in the safety zone (white lines on cement), your student can get out of the car and walk towards the building. 3-4 students can get out at a time! If you arrive after 8:30, you must walk your child into school and sign them in.
Looking forward to another fantastic week at Brent School! As always, don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
Sincerely,
Ms. Baker

Counselor's Corner - Mrs. Rouse
As September comes to an end, I feel proud of Brent's awesome first full month of school. September was filled with kicking off our Student of the Week program, having a school wide circle meeting, introducing the Brent Buck Store, honoring local everyday superheroes at Reading Night, practicing bus safety, homecoming festivities, and more! Although the heat unexpectedly kept students at home for a few days, staff utilized that time to collaborate and work hard planning together for student success.
This past week Brent also started weekly school counselor visits to each classroom. Students learned what a school counselor does by playing a circle game and passing around a "counselor toolbox." Items included a big heart, a listening ear, a sad & mad face, a mouse to help remember "Rouse", a walkie talkie to reinforce that I help keep the school safe, a tissue that helps dry tears, and a Brent Buck and Student of the Week sticker because I get to celebrate students being respectful, responsible, safe, problem solvers! As students learned my name, I went around and made sure that I knew all of their names as well!
The classroom teachers and I will continue to co-teach social-emotional learning lessons that support character development. Lessons are developed through the Ohio Learning Standards and Brent's values of being respectful, responsible, safe, problem solvers. Next week, students will learn about "whole body listening" and how to be respectful. We will read "Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen" by Howard Binkow. Students will practice listening not just with ears but also their eyes, mouth, hands, feet, and mind!
Lunch groups will start soon and will focus on confidence, self-regulation, and social skills. If you are interested and have not turned in the survey, please do so as soon as possible. Group spots are limited and are based on student needs. I will do my best to accommodate as many students as possible and will communicate if your child will be participating.I look forward to getting groups up and running!
If your child is in Kindergarten and you did not yet receive a sign for your yard please let the office or myself know. You can pick them up at any time!
