CONNECTING WITH THE WORLD TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
OPEN HOUSE FOR TRACKS 1, 2, & 3
Open House for Tracks 1, 2 and 3 is next Tuesday, July 24th. There will be two sessions; one at 6:20 and the second at 7:25. This is a great opportunity to share your 2018-19 instructional plan, routines, expectations, and volunteer needs. Remember to share the PTA slide show (PTA shared with me that it will be ready Monday.) at both sessions so that if a parent comes to only the second session. Each session is one hour long. Be sure to have common grade level content in your presentations. Veterans to grade levels please look out for newbies on your team to insure consistency. Make sure to leave time at the end for questions. Display student work and have other information to parents to take with them about your curriculum and procedures. Administrators will come by for support. If you know of a situation needing additional support please let us know. Parking will be at a premium so plan accordingly. Please park in the bus loop or gravel lot to give space to parents in the main lot.
Our After School Program will be offering child care for Pleasant Union students kindergarten through 5th grade FREE OF CHARGE. Please alert parents to use this LINK to register for the child care by Monday, July 23 at 12 noon.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 23-27, 2018
THANK YOU:
Thanks so much for everyone's continued support to help make it a great start to the year. Please come to the Media Center on Thursday after dismissal duties/responsibilities (4:10ish) for an Ice Cream Social.
Brief Professional Bio Needed:
Remember to send a brief professional bio to Kayla to be posted on your team website. If you haven't already sent her yours please do so ASAP so she can post to the website.
Recess: Please make sure to supervise students during recess. Good supervision includes not staying in one spot and if it is too hot, come in early/have the rest of the time inside. 3rd-5th grades: Students playing soccer or group sports like football should be monitored closely. IF the groups get too big, or students are not playing fairly, students should do something else. Help them to keep the privilege of playing with the other classes and/or playing such sports. Go over rules/behavior expectations before going out and debrief any problems when coming in.
Lunch Time:
When Track 4 comes back in on Friday, the lunch room will experience changes. Make sure to follow the schedule in the PUE Master Folder-->2018-2019-->schedules--> lunchschedulesandcharts OR follow this link.
If it is necessary to cover TAs during lunches, teachers and staff will fill in. The schedule for coverage is found at the bottom of the lunch schedule. Classroom teachers are assigned a certain day that they will be asked to cover during his/her lunch time IF NEEDED. Other staff will also be asked to fill in at various times IF NEEDED. Office staff/Admin., too will take part in the rotation. Filling in means helping students, disciplining students, gathering trash, and working with others on duty during this time. See below for the TRACK 3 OUT rotation schedule:
FILL IN DUTY: TRACK 3 OUT; Teachers/other staff may be asked to fill in based on a rotating basis. You will be notified by the office staff ASAP. The day below is your potential “coverage day.” Classroom teachers will cover during his/her lunch time. Other staff (IRT, CCR etc..) will cover as needed on days listed/and or in extenuating circumstances.
Monday: Stunda, Averett, Sigmon, Bandi, Potter, Woronka, Office/Admin
Tuesday: Daniel, VanAntwerp, Clark, Parrish, Larson, Haley, Office/Admin
Wednesday: Rabon, Straub, Gainey, Whitley, Coleman, Schoenebeck, Office/Admin
Thursday: Stepnoski, McKearney, Rich, Fry, Hopper, Garrett, Office/Admin
Friday: Perry, Blocker, Barber, Andrews, Freer, Office/Admin
Families like eating in the hallway!! Remember those that come to eat with his/her child will:
- Only eat with his/her child and
- Eat in the main hallway or at designated locations in the cafeteria. If parents contact you about eating with his/her child, please encourage everyone not to come on Friday, if possible. If people have concerns, please direct them to Ms. Fricke/Admin.
Track 4 Teachers: Please turn in seating charts by Thursday, August 2nd. Copies will be made and kept in the notebook in the cafeteria. A chart was sent out, but you can also find one in the PUE Master Folder and they will be given out in the cafeteria. If any teachers make changes to the charts, make sure you do so in the notebook and let the person on duty know of the change. Also, please chose two students to gather trash/sweep. Either have the students wear a lanyard (if you have any in your classroom please return them) or let the person on duty know who the students are when you come in.
Track 4 Teachers: IT IS IMPORTANT TO GO OVER LUNCH BEHAVIOR BEFORE COMING TO LUNCH. Students need reminders. As our Tracks 1-3 teachers did with their students, Track 4, grades 1-5 teachers need to eat with their class during week 1 to support the norms that they expect their class to follow in the lunchroom. Track 4 Kindergarten teachers will eat with their staggered entry students during week 1 and with their entire class during week two when all of their students are in class.
TAs will be using the lights for whole class discipline. The following sequence will be used to reinforce cafeteria rules:
- Warning
- 5 minutes silence
- Teacher eats with students the next day and/or students eat in the classroom and have silent lunch. TAs will ask individual students to sit separately if disruptive or will assign silent lunch through the classroom teacher. Any student that does not comply with redirection will be referred to the office. There will also be competitions among some grade-levels for extra recess/positive reinforcement etc... once lunch schedules/seating is solidified.
Air Conditioning: Please make sure to do the following to help our air conditioning cool our building: Keep exterior doors closed that lead to playgrounds, leave hallway doors open if the room is COLD so that the HOT rooms across the hallway can benefit from your air, and turn off extra lights that have conventional light bulbs (LED bulbs are cooler.). Alert Henry, administration or office staff if temperature is significantly warm.
Specials Calendar: The Specials Calendar WITH THE DAYS LISTED is in the PUE Master Folder under 2018-2019-->Schedules-->specialsschedules-->puespecialsscheduleDAYS. You can also follow this LINK.
Deadlines: Reminder: If you haven't turned in forms to Ms. Britt from the first week of training, please do so. The sign off sheet is in the conference room. Also, please continue to gather forms from parents (bus letter, for instance) by class and turn those forms in to the office staff. Field Trip dates/forms are due by August 31st, as well.
