The Compass
Week of October 17, 2022
Dedicated to all of the Breast Cancer Warriors & Survivors in our School Community!
Navigation Notes
Hello Westside Families! Can you believe our first quarter of the year is over? The students and teachers are jumping into the second quarter with determination and a positive attitude! Be sure you have reviewed your child's report card, sign the envelope and return it to school on Monday. If you want a conference, please be sure to check the box on that envelope as well.
This week we are hosting our first Award Ceremony on Tuesday-Thursday. See below for more details. If your child is receiving an award, they had a teal notice in their report card envelope with the specific date and time. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early for parking and obtaining a visitor's badge with your ID.
On Monday, we will have our first FULL session of Running Club for those students who have turned in permission forms. Please ensure they wear comfortable clothing and sneakers, bring a water bottle, and you pick them up at 4:00p in the SIDE car loop.
This Thursday, we will honor the members of our school community who have or are still battling breast cancer. We are encouraging everyone to wear PINK for these brave warriors!
On Saturday, we are hosting our Painted Playground Event and will take any adult and responsible student volunteers between 8:00am-1:00pm. High school students who need service hours are also able to attend and I am happy to sign their form. Email Mrs. Woodbury at Woodbury.Stephanie@brevardschools.org if you are interested.
As always, thank you for your support! Our office will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-3:30PM. Please come on in if we can assist you in any way.

We had a good turnout for our Parent/Student Lunch Day last Friday! Thank you to the families who joined us and we look forward to seeing more of you this Friday.
At this time, we must follow the parameters listed below per BPS guidelines:
- This opportunity will only be available on Fridays.
- Only adults on the approved pick-up list for a child will be allowed to have lunch with students. You will need to present your photo ID at the front office and receive a visitor's tag. When done, you must sign out before leaving campus.
- A designated area will be provided for the adult and student.
- Adults will only be allowed to eat lunch with THEIR child and we request only two adults per child please.
- Adults who are not registered volunteers will be monitored by school staff at all times.
- Adults will be permitted to be on campus for lunch for their child's 30-minute lunch block (times listed at end of newsletter for all classes). Once your child's lunch is over, we kindly as you to sign out and exit campus. If you have multiple children and want to have lunch with all of them, you must wait for additional lunch times in the front office, glass booth, or your vehicle.
