Mariner Drama News
Mariner Drama's spring musical will be a gutsy, more modern production of the musical Man of La Mancha. Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ seventeenth-century masterpiece Don Quixote, MAN OF LA MANCHA is one of the most successful musicals in Broadway history. Powerful, brutal, hilarious, and heartbreaking, MAN OF LA MANCHA celebrates the perseverance of a dying old man who refuses to relinquish his ideals or his passion. We plan to set the context of this musical in a more modern setting that will relate to our young adults that attend.
Auditions for this show will be held for Marine City High School students on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Please check out www.marinerdrama.com for more information.
2019 One Act Festivals
Mariner Drama is returning to the Mid-Michigan Theater Festival in Bay City on February 1-3, 2019. This year, we are presenting the beloved children's tale, THE LITTLE PRINCE. We are not just calling this a performance, but an "experience", as we plan to make this a very enchanted, visual presentation of the lonely prince and the stranded Aviator. In the story, we learn of the young prince's quest to return to his beloved "Rose." As he journeys, we learn a great deal about keeping a child-like perspective.
Following our performance at the Mid-Michigan Theater Festival, Mariner Drama will take our show to the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Associations REGIONAL Theater festival at Avondale High School on February 2, 2019. If we score high enough, we will move onto STATE Theater Festival on February 15th and 16th at Harper Woods High School.
