NEW Publications from Ms. Barbara Poole's Poetry Students
This semester in the GA/GO Middle School Poetry Course, Onwua Cairns, Nsima Ipke and Reagan Leas have been creating some publications!

Math, Science and Tech Support
Math tutoring will be available this week on Monday (1/14) ONLY from 4:30 to 6pm! Stop by for some extra support before your final exams!
Regular scheduled support sessions for Math, Science and Tech will begin the week of January 28th.
2019 NCDOT Aviation Art Contest
Who can participate: All children born between 2001-2012 who live in and/or attend school in North Carolina
When is the deadline: All entries must be postmarked by Friday, January 18
Theme for the contest: “My Dream to Fly”

Ways to Connect & Communicate
In Granville Academy we pride ourselves on our constant and continuous communication. We want to remind families of all the ways to connect in Granville Academy.
Email: Emails are sent out weekly that include the GA Newsletter, messages from Dr. Wrenn and teachers, weekly checklists (grades 6-8), messages from all teachers K-12.
School Website: Our school website (GA.gcs.k12.nc.us) has all updated and past information posted here.
Google Groups: Important information is sent through the Google Groups and allows for families to post and respond to one another. The Groups also allow for grade span information to be sent in separate spaces.
Social Media: Announcements, Important Information and current school happenings are posted and shared through our social media outlets. Please view the image and follow us today!
Remind: Remind is an web application that GA uses to connect the entire educational community. Please note that the best way to use Remind is to download the App on your phone or set up to receive email notifications. Stay tuned for more information about the Remind Application.
Phone Calls: Phone calls are also sent home occasionally from the GA office with important information.

Information for Grades K-5
GA Spelling Bee
The GA Spelling Bee will be an exciting event! Please note that the date has been modified! The Spelling Bee will be on January 23, 2019 at 12:30pm in the Tar River Community Center.
Granville Academy has four Pirates participating! The students are Immanuel Perkins (4th Grade), Rylee Drissel (4th Grade), Miley Thompson (5th Grade), or Natalie Ollila (5th Grade)! If you see them, wish them luck!
The GCPS District Spelling Bee will be held on March 14, 2019.

Science Olympiad Practice
The next Science Olympiad practice for grades 5-9 will be on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Granville Academy TRES Campus. All Granville Academy students who attend either the Northern or Southern campuses are invited to come practice!

Competition for Science Olympiad is on Saturday, March 2nd at Riverside HS in Durham.

Extra Support on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Students are still welcome to stay until 3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays to receive help and/or just have a quiet environment to complete work.
ALL FUELED ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED BY JANUARY 22ND. Assignments not completed by this time will stay as a permanent 0 in the grade book for the rest of the school year.

Information for Grades 9-12
High School Final Exam Information
The end of the first semester is here along with final exams! All students will test at the Granville Academy Northern Granville MS Campus. This campus is located at 3144 Webb School Road. Please enter the dirt driveway to access the Granville Academy entrance and follow the signage provided.
Be sure to get a good night of sleep, eat a good breakfast and study! Remember that all exams comprise 25% of your final grade in each course.
If you would like to help provide snacks, coffee, water or cocoa for students on exam days, please drop off in
Room 329 to Mrs. Mazie Marlin.
We want to make sure all of students are comfortable and ready to score a level 4 or 5.
