Mason Moose Minutes December 3
Teamwork it is! One Mason, One Family, One Team!
Message from the Principal
I hope you read this Mason Moose Minutes in the best of health, and close to your dear loved ones. In taking the time to reflect on this past week and the tragedy that took place at Oxford High School, my thoughts and prayers truly go out to all of the families, students, educators and entire Oxford Community. Life is truly short and precious on so many levels, and the value of time is priceless. I do want to express to you, that we, as Mason educators, recognize we have a significant impact on our dear students, and the sense of responsibility we have to ethically teach and guide them, while instilling character, confidence, and a sense belonging is so important. We continue to strive to highlight our dear students' strengths, address their needs, while inspiring them with teamwork, a sense of family, and togetherness.
Something that was scheduled and brought smiles to our hearts this week, were our grade level assemblies, which the teachers and I met with the students as a grade level family! We took the opportunity to discuss with students the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People aligned with our Leader in Me program. Kindly find the below habits for your reference.
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Habit 6: Synergize -Together is better
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw- Balance feels best
The team and I had the pleasure of recognizing our Leaders of the Month and award them with their certificate and lanyard to wear proudly! We continue to move forward as One Mason, One Family, One Team! If you need anything, please know you can contact me via email at Hassana@gpschools.org or by phone at (313) 432-4404. As always....Teamwork it is! Together we learn, we lead, and we lift!

Winter Playground Procedures/Rules
Snow is here!!! Please remember our students do go outside twice a day for recess. It is important that they are dressed appropriately, hat, gloves, coat, snow pants and boots. Kindly know that in order for students to play on the playground/woodchips/field they need to HAVE snow pants and boots on. If they do not have boots or snow pants on, they will have to stay on the blacktop. Please find these Winter Playground Procedures/Rules to review with your student at home.
If you are in need of a winter jacket and need some support, please contact the main office as we do have some winter jackets to share with students in need.

Volunteers
We would love to welcome volunteers to come and assist with lunch recess! This is kindly held outside weather permitting, so please dress appropriately.
An IChat needs to be filled out and ran 24hrs prior to volunteering, if one is needed we can send one home with your student or you can pick one up from the office.
To all of our dear parents who have been joining us, know that YOU and your time is truly appreciated! Your presence is making a difference and your involvement is so valuable!
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to Cindy Lyon in the main office at 313-432-4411.
Morning Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
* Students should not be playing at the playground in the morning or on the blacktop. Please kindly remind your student.
* Please DO NOT PARK, nor double park on Charlevoix Rd as this is a drop off area during morning arrival and dismissal times. We want to be proactive about this so that parents are not ticketed for parking there, and students are safe to be dropped off.
* Additionally, during morning arrival, let us try to park in the parking spots which tend to be available if you intend to walk your child to the blacktop, and please DO NOT PARK in the drop off circle so that it indeed is a drop off circle for all students to be dropped off safely.
