Homecoming Parade September 30th

Calling all Danny's, Sandy's, T-Birds, and Pink Ladies to join us as we walk in this year's homecoming parade. The theme is Back to the 50's so don your poodle skirts, letter jackets, and slick back your doo as we jam in the streets to the sounds of 1950's American Bandstand. The first 50 students who return their permission slip for the parade to the office will receive a record prop to decorate and carry during the parade. We will include permission slips in NEXT WEEK's Panther Press so be on the look-out.

4th Grade Recorders

As you may know, the Soprano Recorder is a curricular unit of study for all 4th graders in OASD. The recorder is a useful tool for many reasons.

This year, students will begin studying the recorder in November, and it will be integrated with curriculum for the duration of the year. The fee for a recorder is $5. This fee will be added to all Family Access accounts in 4th grade. If you choose to “opt out” because you already have a recorder from an older sibling/relative, please contact either Mrs. C. or Mrs. Soderstrom in the office no later than October 1st. If you do not contact us, it will be assumed you would like the school to order an instrument for you and a fee will be added to your account.

Please contact Mrs. C. with any questions: ciesielskia@oasd.org.

Thank you!

Picture Day

September 20, 2016: Payments for packages can be made online in Family Access. Flyers were sent home this week with students.

When your plans change...

Thank you for letting us know as early as possible. Our office is only staffed by one person from 2:45-3:40 and we really need your help to ensure that messages regarding changes to how your child will be going home are communicated to your child and their teacher as early as possible.

The Mankins Minute

Overdrive is an online database of electronic books. The Oconomowoc Area School District subscribes to this resource. If you are interested in having your student check out an electronic book through an electronic device please come and see me in the library or send me an email. Students in the district are allowed to check out up to three electronic books at a time. If you would like to take a look at the selection please visit the family resource page and click on online library. There you will see Overdrive. Take a look!

As always, if you have any questions about any resources feel free to contact me at school or through my email.

District Wellness Tip of the Week

Mood + Mindset = Success

Moods can influence how well we do in certain situations, but so can something else: our mindset. What's the difference between a mood and a mindset? Moods are the emotions we feel. A mindset is the thoughts and ideas that go along with that mood. Mood and mindset go hand in hand because our thoughts can influence our mood. You've probably chosen your mood before without even realizing it — many times people choose a mood naturally without thinking about it. But practicing ways to choose your mood intentionally can help you get good at it. So next time you feel a strong mood, stop and name it. Ask yourself if it's the ideal mood for what you're trying to accomplish. www.kidshealth.org
