AMCMS Principal's Office
What is going on in the Principal's Office?
My Challenge to You
Take 30 seconds and watch the commercial above. I first saw this video last weekend during the Grammy's. Normally I am able to fast-forward through the commercials because I rarely watch live TV but that was not possible during live TV. I am glad that I was able to catch this particular commercial because the message hits home for educators.
Change is just a part of life.
No how much we want things to stay the same they just do not. Life is constantly changing and evolving. Some changes are faster and other changes are slower. We may not even realize that change has occurred until we look up one day and realize that everything is different. That is when people often say... "how did we get here?" or "When did this happen?"
Change is not a bad thing.
I would argue that change is what keeps us going. Think about that for a minute. If we did the same thing, day after day after day after day after day (you get the point) Life would be very boring. There would be no reason to get excited about anything because we all would know what is going to happen. Wouldn't you agree?
So why does this matter?
Well, you need to be thinking of it from your student's perspective. What are they doing each day in your classroom? Is it the same activities, just different content? How are you adjusting the day to day to keep things fresh and interesting for your students?
Where do we go from here?
Be willing to make the changes that are needed and then actually make those changes. Also, be willing to take the suggestions for change from those around you. The power of collaboration comes only to those that are willing to listen and implement what is being suggested. Be open to change.
Think. Achieve. Succeed.
Jeff

Academic Tip of the Week
The student will complete classroom assignments during class time.
Try This:
Provide the student with shorter tasks given more frequently. Overall the amount of work completed can still be the same but chunking it will help with completion success rates.
Wellness Tip of the Week
Supplement your health.
It would be wonderful if we could get all the nutrition our bodies need to optimally fuel energy, metabolism, and health through food alone. Reality too often gets in the way with a quick paced lifestyle, reliance on convenience foods, and depleted agricultural conditions (which results in food with lower nutrient density) - all in addition to our personal stressors. Each of these factors increases our nutritional needs further. Here are some essentials for women.
- A woman’s formulated multivitamin/mineral to act as a nutritional “support system,” filling in the gaps of our current dietary intake.
- Omega-3 fish oils to optimize our cellular health and to provide the building blocks for hormone production
- Vitamin D to support immunity, cognitive health/mood, insulin sensitivity, digestive health, etc. (most common vitamin deficiency)
- Herb blend that helps stabilize female hormone balance and the resultant PMS, peri-menopausal, or menopausal symptoms
