LHS Update

Second Semester Fresh Start

Starting a new semester gives us all the opportunity for a fresh start. For some, that is as the old idiom goes, "what the doctor ordered" and can even feel liberating. For others, they just need to find the strength to continue building on the strong foundation they have already put into place. As each of you starts this semester with A's in all of your classes, we have a challenge for you. Set a goal for yourself. Maybe it's no late work, perhaps arriving on time, going to more school events, or maybe organizing your work. Whatever goal you choose, make sure it fits your needs. This will aid in your responsibility to do all you can to maintain your grades throughout the course of the semester. We encourage each of you to develop or continue to utilize good study habits, to work hard, and to give your best effort on a consistent basis. This semester brings opportunities for all our students to thrive in and out of the classroom. We look forward to working collaboratively on a successful second semester for all!

Key reminders as we start the second semester:

  • Grades: Students please consistently check your grades utilizing SISK12 - this prevents future "surprises"
  • After-School Assist: Free tutoring offered for all students Monday - Thursday - more information
  • Tardies: The first-hour bell rings at 7:20 AM meaning if you are not in the classroom at 7:20 AM, that is a tardy. Unexcused late arrivals are treated the same as tardies. Three tardies equal one after-school detention. - Tardies start "fresh" at the beginning of each quarter
  • Schedule Changes: Schedule changes take place the first 5 days of the new semester. The final day for changes will be Tuesday, January 25th.

Important Upcoming Dates:

January 22: Winter Formal (more information below)

February 2: Enrollment Information Sent

February 7 - 11: School Counselor's Week

February 18: No School

February 21: President's Day - No School

February 22: Teacher PD - No School

A Fresh Rebrand...

The Guidance Office will be changing its name to "The Student Center". This is due to the fact that we are serving students in a variety of ways. The Student Center is where you will find the registrar, Dr. Kiely's office, educational support counselor, A+ college/career counselor, school counselors, and college/career center.

The Liberty Booster Club loves supporting the sports teams and clubs here at LHS. We do this primarily through running concession stands throughout the school year, but we can’t open without you! Please consider signing up for a shift or two at bit.ly/lhswintervolunteers. We greatly appreciate your help and time!

Parents, are you interested in becoming a concessions manager? Please email stephanie.clancy@libertyboosterclub.com.
