THE MYSTERY OF POMPEII
BY KYNESHA ANDERSON & TOMIA BORDEAUX
WHEN DID IT OCCUR?
It occured August 24, when mount versuvius blew off the top sending ashes and sufuric gas in the atmosphere.
WHO WAS INVOLVED?
No one was involved in Pompeii. The eruption of the volcano was an act of nature. The only people that were involved were the people that died and faught for their lives.
WHAT WAS POMPEII LIKE BEFORE THE ERUPTON?
Pompeii followed the roman religion. The had seperate temples to each god like, Venus, Apollo, and Mars. They praid daily and also made sacrifices to their god. they occording to the sun, when the sun rose they rose. there were a range of jobs from farmers to bakers to merchants.
VERSUVIUS
Mt. Vesuvius, a roughly 4,300-feet high. Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe, and has produced some of the continent's largest volcanic eruptions. Located on Italy's west coast, it overlooks the Bay and City of Naples and sits in the crater of the ancient Somma volcano. Vesuvius is most famous for the 79 AD eruption which destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It is refered to as "PLINIAN". This is named after the naturalist PLINY. The most active volcano.
WHY DIDNT PEOPLE LEAVE?
The people didnt leave because they did not know it was a volcanoe. The longer the voano sleeps the more deadlier the eruption. The eruption lasted 24 hours. Many arrogantly assumed their ouses were strong enough to hold up against the volcano. many people didnt know were to go.it wasnt like today where people can be relocated almost anywhere.
DID ANY PEOPLE SURVIVE THE EXPOSION?!?!?
90 percent of the people of Pompeii had reached safety. Those still left, for whatever reason, still had plenty to time to escape -- and they probably would have done so without further hesitation if they had only known what future horror the mountain had in store.
WHEN WAS POMPEII DISCOVERED AND BY WHOM??? :)>
Pliny the younger expored it and witessed the volcanoe erupting. He also wrote the oldest surving description of the tall, tree-shaped cloud from the volcano. it was discovered on the morning of August 24, 79 A.D.
