New Information
Halloween Parade
We will be holding our annual Halloween Parade on Tuesday at 8:00 am. Here is the plan so the children can enjoy their day and we can stay safe:
Students will come to school at their regular time, in their costumes. We are unable to help students put on or take off their costumes. Parents may observe the parade on the fence line that separates the school from the park (parents remain on the park side of the fence) or at the fence by the playground where students in grade 2 through 5 enter.
Parents are only allowed on campus during their child’s class party if they have been recognized as a class volunteer for the party by the child’s teacher. Parents may not “drop in” to a class party unless it is prearranged.
In order to balance the desire for fun and the necessity of maintaining a respectful and safe school environment, the following costume guidelines for this Halloween have been adopted.
We are unable to help students put on or take off their costumes.
Make sure the costume is school appropriate. Students in costumes that are too scary (that includes Scream type masks, any movie character that involves violence, fake blood, or ANY type of weaponry) will not be able to participate in the parade and will be sent home to change.
Appropriate footwear shall be worn at all times.
Chains and studded accessories are not permitted.
Cosmetics and colored hair spray may be worn, but not brought to school.
No full face masks or other full face coverings shall be worn.
If you think the costume will be controversial or inappropriate please don’t wear the costume. If a costume causes a disruption, the student(s) will need to change. The day can be fun but we are conducting school and we need students to be in that mind set.
Please remind your student to throw away candy wrappers while on campus. We want to keep our campus looking clean and free from trash.
Traffic Update
We are aware of the ongoing traffic congestion caused by the traffic light at World Trade and Eastborne, and we share your concern. Our school is in constant communication with the San Diego Police to investigate the issue and understand why only a few cars are allowed per light change. Your feedback is invaluable to us, so if you would like to report this problem, please use the link provided below.
Furthermore, I have received inquiries from several parents regarding why I no longer direct traffic, as has been done in previous years. I want to clarify that the decision was made after consulting with the police, who informed me that this is a city street and not school property; therefore, a staff member should not be directing traffic.
In the interest of the safety of our students and staff, my presence is needed in other areas during our morning and afternoon drop-offs and pick-ups. Rest assured, we are actively working on finding a solution to the traffic issue and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Looking To Book Travel Plans?
As families begin to organize their holiday travel arrangements, we kindly request that you take into consideration the non-student days provided by PUSD to accommodate your travel needs. Thanksgiving Break spans from November 20th to November 24th, and Winter Break extends from December 25th to January 5th.
In line with our overarching goal of promoting consistent attendance throughout the school, we encourage you to schedule your travel plans during these designated periods. It's crucial to remember that students who are absent from school may miss valuable instruction. When absences become a recurring issue, students can fall behind academically, leading to lower academic performance and potential challenges that extend beyond the classroom. Your cooperation in prioritizing regular attendance greatly contributes to your child's success.
Food and Nutrition Updates
School breakfast and school lunch are FREE for all enrolled students, every school day. Meals must still be entered into the cafeteria computer by individual student account.
Even though meals are free, families are still highly encouraged to complete the application for free and reduced-price meal eligibility. School site funding depends in part on the number of students eligible for free/reduced-price meals. Families that qualify for free/reduced-price meals may qualify for other benefits, as well. The meal application is available online at MySchoolApps.com.
Printer-friendly PDF menus are available on the PUSD Food and Nutrition webpage. At the top of the page, click or hover over School Menus + and then Printable PDF Menus.
Interactive, web-based menus containing nutrient and allergen details are available at MySchoolMenus.com, as well as via links from the F&N webpage.
