Summer Readers Shine

This past summer our rising 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders participated in Scholastic's Summer Reading Program, "Read For The World Record." The students logged 432,072 minutes over the summer months, placing CCE as the top school in the state of South Carolina. Recently, Scholastic rewarded our school with a plaque, a banner and 25 copies of "The 2016 Book of World Records" for our top readers.

New Books in the Library

Over 200 new books arrived in the Intermediate library during the month of November.

Read Your Way to the Big Game Contest

Over 150 Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 read six books to qualify for the opportunity to win a trip to the Palmetto Bowl. Although none of our students won the contest, they were still winners for being such great readers.

January - The American Library Association will hold its Midwinter Meeting in Boston, MA where book award winners will be announced.

Read Hard Play Hard Club Members at the Starbooks Cafe

Participants in CCE's Accelerated Reader Club for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders earn StarBucks by taking AR quizzes. One of the privileges of club membership is the opportunity to enjoy lunch with other club members at the StarBooks Cafe.

Native American Heritage Month Projects

4th and 5th grade classes worked on a Native American research project. They created Keynote slide shows on various Native American tribes.
