UBMS Weekly Update
February 5, 2016
2015-2016 THEME: "HAVE THE COURAGE TO SUCCEED!"
This Week's "UB Special" Award!
This week's "UB Special" award recipient is VICHAI XIONG!
Vichai is not only reliable to get himself to tutoring every Thursday, but he makes sure to get others there too. His attendance is perfect this year so far and it is great seeing him at some of our non-required events. We appreciate Vichai's attitude and willingness to help others and why he has been named this week's UB Special Award recipient! Please congratulate Vichai when you see him next!
National TRIO Day 2016
We're excited to have former congressman, Thomas Petri, as our guest speaker. We will also be hearing stories by past and former TRIO students demonstrating how TRIO has worked for them.
Parents are also invited. However, please watch for your EventBrite invitation and RSVP ASAP.

January Reflection Papers
Students are given an extra week since the first Monday falls on the 1st - and we're nice! Please do no procrastinate!
Papers may not be turned in prior to your workshop with Chris on January 26th. In your reflection paper, you're expected to report what you learned, what it means to you, and how you plan to use the information you received from the workshop. Remember to take notes!
Another writing topic to be considered is: With the cold and sometimes gloomy days of winter, what sorts of things are you doing to stay emotionally and physically healthy? What works, what doesn't work? If you find yourself indoors more, what are you doing with your extra time? We hope searching careers, colleges, and scholarships tops your lists!
