Principal's Pen

Good morning and happy Advent! Yesterday was the first Sunday of Advent and the beginning of a new church year. So Happy New Year!

During the next four weeks of Advent, we are opening our hearts to Jesus and preparing for His coming, waiting in anticipation for His arrival at Christmas. During this time we remember in a special way how God's chosen people waited for the coming of the Savior. Our waiting during Advent is a reflection of the waiting of God's chosen people, Israel. At my house we love to go through the Jesse Tree during Advent. The Jesse Tree is named after Jesse, the father of King David. If you have never tried this tradition, I would encourage you to give it a go. My kids look forward to it each evening. There is an ornament for each day of Advent. The ornaments tell the story of the waiting of God's people - also called the story of salvation history - starting with creation through the birth of Christ. There are many free printable Jesse tree ornaments online. Here is a link to a site where you can download the ornaments pre-colored or in black and white. https://www.faithward.org/jesse-tree/printable-jesse-tree-ornaments/. I ordered mine from an Etsy shop several years ago and reuse them every year: advent-jesse-tree-book-6x9-ornaments.This particular set comes with a book of all the Bible stories that go with each ornament.

This last weekend some of the members of the Parent Association came to school on Saturday and Sunday to decorate for Advent. The students really noticed the difference when they came to school this morning. Thank you!!! There are a few pictures below.

In the Monday Mailer today you will be getting a letter about a special service project we are doing this Advent as a school. It is called Shopping for the Needy. The students will be shopping for 24 children this Christmas who are in need of Christmas gifts. We will be going to Walmart on December 10th to do our shopping, and we hope to have a few parents from each classroom chaperone. Please read through the letter and return your permission slip to school as soon as possible.

God bless,

Angela Oller

Thank you to Kathy and Jay Novickis!

We had a generous donation this year from Kathy Novickis to our music program. This was an answer to prayer. We have been trying to find a way to sound proof our music room and also purchase music supplies. Through this generous donation we were able to have sound panels installed that will make a huge difference for our whole staff! We are truly grateful for the generosity of Kathy and Jay Novickis. Thank you!
