Library Schedule
All students visit the library weekly for a lesson/read aloud and book checkout. Please make sure your student is returning their book weekly on their library day. You can refer to the schedule linked below if you are unsure of your library day. Please help your student practice good book care and responsibility with their books while reading at home. I tell them that the best place to keep their books while not reading them is safe in their bookbag.
NOTE: Students are welcome to come to the library at any time to exchange their book(s). If they forget their book on library day and bring it in later, their teacher can send them to return it and find a new one. Students should let their teacher know when they have a book they would like to exchange if it is outside of their library day.

Book Spotlight
The Creepy Crayon
by Aaron Reynolds
The Pigeon Will Ride the Roller Coaster
This is another brand new release that I am thrilled about! The pigeon is a favorite character among many of our students, and his antics and wild emotions never fail to get a laugh. This time around the pigeon is overly dramatic as usual as he psyches himself up to be brave and ride the roller coaster. Our students are going to love this one as I add it to our collection this year.
Strange Birds: A Field Guide to Ruffling Feathers
It's Hispanic Heritage Month and I wanted to make sure I spotlight a Hispanic American author. This book is a true gem about four girls who form their own girl scout troop and use their voices and power to protest another local scout troop's use of bird feathers in their ceremonial hat. Each girl is very different from the others and the story is told from each of their perspectives so you'll see the various challenges they all face and how they work together, despite their differences, to solve a problem. This is an important book that teaches about teamwork and the power you can have to make a difference. It was also one of SCASL's 2021-2022 Children's Book Award nominees.
My Favorite September Reads
Carrie Soto is Back
If you like this one, don't miss these other books by Taylor Jenkins Reid: Malibu Rising, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and Daisy Jones and the Six (the audiobook for Daisy Jones is one of the best I've ever listened to). All four of these books are connected by the time periods and location they take place in and the main characters in each book pop up in all the others. It's so fun to read each one and find those nuggets (and no, the order you read them in doesn't matter!)
A Curse So Dark and Lonely
If you like this one, don't miss the rest of the books in the trilogy - A Heart So Fierce and Broken and A Vow So Bold and Deadly
Where the Lost Wander
If you like this one, you might enjoy The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. While this story takes place during the Great Depression, it also follows a family and their harrowing journey to California for a better life.
