Aloha High School
Friday Update 10/23/2020
Grades are Coming
Today, Friday, October 23rd marks the 6th week of school. By the end of the day, all of our teachers will have updated their gradebooks with all the work students have competed. It is important that students and parents are aware of their current grades as we head into the last few weeks of the first grading period. Official grades will be posted to the student transcript on November 13th. Students must earn a passing grade by November 13th to earn credit for the course. It is critical for our students are put in the work for these next three weeks and ensure they are doing well in each of their classes.

Oregon’s Student Health Survey
The Beaverton School District is continuing our participation in Oregon’s Student Health Survey (SHS). The SHS is a survey sponsored by the Oregon Health Authority Public Health Division and the Oregon Department of Education. The survey will gather information about health risk behaviors of students in grade 11. Our District uses these anonymous results to learn more about:
- Student health and safety
- Student mental and behavioral health
- School climate and culture
The SHS will take students 30 minutes or less to complete and will be administered through Canvas in Advisory between November 3-24. Students will be given information on support resources prior to taking the survey. Go to this link for more information and Opt Out Form.
Do you have Chromebook Insurance?
This year, all students in grades K-12 have the opportunity to check out a district-owned device for use at school and at home. Anticipating that all students will get a district-owned device, the district adds a fee of $20 to students’ Online Payment accounts (maximum fee of $60 per family per school year) to enroll them in the Damage Loss Protection Program. This fee is waived for families who qualify for the free or reduced meal benefits program and have completed the Permission to Share Form. Students need to pay the assigned fee prior to any damage or loss claims to be eligible for the Protection Program coverage and no later than 30 days after they begin school.
If you decline coverage, you are assuming full responsibility for any costs due to damage, loss or theft. These costs could be as much as $300 per incident, regardless of how it happens. More information here .
If you opt in to this coverage, the program covers the device loaned to the student against all accidental damage, theft, vandalism, or loss for one (1) school year. This program also covers the first incident of loss or damage of a charger and stylus.
More information about the Damage and Loss Protection Program, including what it covers, can be found on the Student Device Resources page on the BSD website. If you would like to change your selection to opt in to the Damage and Loss Protection Program, please long into your ParentVUE, Family Updates and New Student Enrollment. From the drop down select 1. Fall Verification and Family Updates. 2. Begin Process. It will take a day for the fee to show up in your Online Payment account.
