The Titan Brief
The weekly newsletter for New Mission High School
September 27th, 2023
Dear Titans,
Happy start to Fall. We have launched into the school year in full swing. Please save the date for the New Mission Fall Open House, Thursday, October 19th, 5:30 - 7:00pm, at New Mission. This event is an important opportunity for you to meet your child's teachers and learn about how to be successful at New Mission.
In other news, I would like to shout out our very own 11th grader, Jasmine Canas, for her heroic altruism that has been featured in the local Hyde Park Bulletin. With courage, Jasmine was able to use her CPR and First Aid training that she learned during her Harvard MED science course to save her Coach from choking. She shared the following: "I mean I wasn’t even sure I wanted to put it into use (her medical training), but you know, it’s someone’s life on the line and I was kind of scared, but I asked her, ‘Do you want me to help you?’ and she nodded yes." Her actions are an amazing example of the positive impact our young people can have.
Lastly, please review the following newsletter and school calendar to keep up to date on all things TITAN. Let's continue with a great Fall!
In partnership,
Will Thomas

Titan Highlights
Congratulations Ms. Roberts!
Congratulations to our 7th Grade Cluster Leader and ELA teacher Omega Roberts for being named a Wasabi Fenway Bowl Extra Yard Teacher this past Tuesday for her “selfless contribution to the education system and [her] students.” Our school had a visit from Wally and members of the Extra Yard team to honor Ms. Roberts, photos here. What a tremendous honor for a valuable member of our school community– congratulations, Ms. Roberts!
AP Family Night Success!
This Tuesday, students and families gathered for Advanced Placement (AP) Family night in the New Mission High School Cafeteria. Families learned about AP success plans and tutoring opportunities for their students. Alumni C. Sarfo (Class of 2023) presented to students about the benefits of AP classes and how they prepared her for college. Dinner was served. Families were lastly able to connect with their student's teachers, asking questions and relieving any concerns.
