Spring 2016 Cooperating Teachers
The Human Resources Staff Development Department is receiving requests from universities to place student teachers in our District for the spring 2016 semester. We need cooperating teachers interested in mentoring a student teacher to help develop these students to become outstanding professional educators. Principals need to approve each teacher based on the following criteria.
- Teachers who have a personal desire to work with a student teacher
- Teachers who value student teaching as a learning experience
- Teachers who will accept the student teacher as a fellow professional
- Teachers who are fully certified in the area they are teaching
- Teachers who are willing to work with university supervisors
- Teachers who have at least 3 years of teaching experience
- Teachers who are recommended by their principal
Please let Tiffany know if you are interested in this opportunity no later than 3:00pm Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

Coker Handbook Tidbits-Animals at School
Guidelines for bringing animals to school must be followed and they are listed in the campus handbook. The teacher must let administration know if there will be an animal in the classroom.
Classroom pets should be visitors, not permanent residents and must be taken home over the holidays. Pets are for curriculum purposes only and then removed when the lesson is complete. Pets should be hairless or free of fur with minimal feces in the cage. (fish, reptiles, turtles are OK, no iguanas)
All animals/classroom pets brought to school must be accompanied by proof of current rabies vaccination or current city animal license (which includes current rabies vaccination). All animals must have a certificate of approval from a Vet or Region 20. Please provide copy of information to administration to be kept on file.
Click here to access the Handbook for detailed information.

Hard Lock Down Drill
During a Lock Down here are a few things to remember:
Goal: Securing Students in Building in less than 3 minutes.
- “Hard Lockdown Drill” or “Hard Lockdown” announcement made by the Principal.
- Move students to interior walls and sit down. Take attendance. Await further instructions from principal.
- All students in transition will report to the nearest classroom. If students are in rotation classes, or any pullout program, they will remain with that teacher in that classroom.
*Principal Notifies NEISD Emergency Operations Coordinator.
*Students may NOT be released from school during a lockdown.
*Visitors currently on campus will join the closest room.
*No additional visitors will be allowed on campus.
*Await further instructions from the principal.
