White Rice
A starchy endosperm of the rice kernel.
Preparing it?
You can use the stove-top/boiling method by taking the rice and putting it in a covered pot for about 15-20 minutes. You can also use the gentle boil method which is taking the rice and doing the same thing as before, but without a lid. The last method for white rice, is simply using a rice cooker. You take the rice and put it in the rice cooker, add water, and then cook it for it's 'set time.'
Storage?
According to www.stilltasty.com, un-cooked white rice is indefinite. However, you should keep it stored somewhere that bugs.pests, or other things will not reach the rice. To be safe, you can place the rice in a freezer or fridge. If the rice is cooked, it will last 4-6 days in a refrigerator.

Brown Rice
Has the hull removed, but contains the bran and germ as well as the endosperm.
Preparing it?
You can use the same boiling method and rice cooker method along with some others. For example, you can cook brown rice in the oven. You put it in a pan with foil, and bake it. You can also do it in the microwave, but that's not the best way to do it.
Storage?
Brown rice is much different compared to the other types. In the pantry, un-cooked brown rice will only stay good for 3-6 months, In the fridge it will stay good for 6-12, and in the freezer it will stay good for 12-18.

The un-cooked, whole-grain rice, will last 6-8 years in a pantry (under the circumstances), and if it is kept in a freezer/fridge it should last for many years. However, cooked whole-grain rice will only stay good in the fridge for 4-5 days.

Pre-cooked rice that is raw can be stored in the pantry for up to 4-5 years. If the rice has been cooked it will last in the fridge for only a couple of days.

Wild Rice
This type of 'rice' isn't really rice. It is the seed of a grass that grows in the marshes of Minnesota and Canada.

Baking it or Boiling it.

Un-cooked wild rice has a indefinite shelf, fridge, and freezer life, which means that the rice will be perfectly fine to eat once heated up. Cooked wild rice will last 4-6 days in the fridge.
