Principal's Update

October 2020

Dear Families,

We hope that everyone is having a great school year so far. We have gotten off to a terrific start and the students are doing great! Ms. Randol, Ms Ard, and myself are very proud of the incredible students we have at East and West this year.

As we are heading into Fall, please remember to monitor the weather and dress your children appropriately. Please make sure that you are checking your students backpacks each day to monitor their progress and you can also check their teachers Schoology page for assignments that are being done digitally. This is a work in progress and we are excited about the learning possibilities that Schoology provides. As we develop more curriculum that can be used through this platform, we believe that we will be able to reach the different learning styles of all of our students. This will also provide parents and students a way to stay caught up on their studies when they are unable to attend school in person.

What is circle time?

East/West Elementary have implemented circle time each day in every classroom. Restorative circles are restorative discipline strategies used in the classroom to develop relationships, build communities, and respond to conflicts or problems that might arise. Circles give everyone an equal opportunity to speak and be listened to. Focusing on positive connection and support contributes to a positive school climate. Everyone in our building is participating in circles from 8:10-8:30, so we do our best not to interrupt classrooms during this time. The students and teachers are really enjoying this time! Click the green link above to learn more about circles.

COVID 19 Update

Thank you for all of your help in keeping our children safe. We are closely monitoring numbers and making decision daily on the best way to keep students, teachers, and staff safe. At conferences, you should have received a letter explaining the A/B schedule. Although we do not plan on going to this, we would like to give you as much time as possible to plan in the event we move to this schedule. The letter you received should explain when your student should come to school if we move to an A/B schedule. We have done our best to make sure all sibling groups are together, but I am sure we have overlooked something. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to (East) or (West).

Learning All Around the School

General Thomas P. Stafford Elementary

The Weatherford Board of Education approved the name for the newest elementary school. We are honored to get to name the new 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade building after our very own General Thomas P. Stafford. The building is coming along nicely and changing daily. Some of the teachers were able to do a quick walk through and they are very excited about everything that is happening. Thank you Weatherford for supporting our schools.

1. Eagle Realty for the donation of water bottles for our students
