PLC
Now that BTSN is completed and the first full week of school has passed, our PLC's are ready to dig deep into the 4 questions: What do we want our students to learn? How will we know if they have learned it? What will we do if they don't learn it? and What will we do if they already know it?
In this 'Year of Learning', the PLC process will support teams as they navigate the new ELA/ELD series and continue the work in Mathematics, Writing, and Critical Thinking. Please let us know your team's PLC time and location for this year. We love stopping by to support your work and collaboration. PLC minutes can be shared with us electronically or in paper form; whichever works best for your team. We have updated the electronic form in the drive and have included a link below for easy access. Please remember to first make a copy of the form and then you will be able to edit and rename the form for your grade level.
Kudos!
~PBIS kudos for leading your students through the PBIS Location Expectation Walking Tour. By teaching, practicing, reminding, and reinforcing the expectations for our students we set them up for success.
~Thank you to our front office staff (Caroline, Angie, Michelle, and Yvonne) for all of your work to get FVES ready for the new school year. Thank you, too, for greeting our new and returning families with welcoming smiles, answering their questions, and for your support in the office of the new gate procedure.
~Way to go student volunteers! Thanks to our ASB leaders (Woods and Dreyer) for rustling up student volunteers for the front of the school to greet our visitors for Friday Flag. The morning went smoothly with their assistance as well as the support of our front office ladies.
~Kudos to Michelle Sanders and her team for the many hours they have spent planning, organizing, sorting, and preparing the new ELA/ELD materials. Their focused efforts to get the materials into the hands of teachers and students as soon as possible is impressive!
~Thanks to our SpEd and PBIS teams for their timely, personalized, and compassionate efforts with some special Flyers as they transition into the new school year.
~We appreciate you, Bonnie! Thank you for all you do to feed our Flyers each day. Your positive attitude and efficient kitchen fill their tummies as well as their hearts!
~Recognition to all of our teachers for embracing the new ELA/ELD materials and jumping right in to explore them and use them with your students! Love seeing the excitement and willingness to do new things even with all that is on your plates!
Kudos...we want to hear from you!
PBIS ~ Following Instructions
Last Friday, students that earned Flyer of the Week for Following Instructions were given a certificate and a green leaf. Students are asked to write their name and room number on the leaf and turn-it-in to the office. We will add leaves for each behavior standard to a PBIS tree in the MPR. The tree will be a visual reminder of the behavior standards as well as a colorful display of our students' efforts.
Below is a video you may want to share with your students this week in your discussions and lessons on Following Instructions. Please also review the expectations for the bathroom with your students this week.
