MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOTZNY

Dear Parents,

We are very excited to be having "in person" programs again at Sampson. Since we have not had program guests in the building for two years, we thought we would review a couple of our policies and procedures. When you arrive for the program, please come to the front door. That is the only door that will be unlocked for guests. Seating will be limited, so try to limit your guests to just immediate family members. At the end of the program, families may exit out any door in the cafeteria or walk back to the front of the building. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and we can't wait to see our Stallions back on the stage!

Sincerely,

Heather Motzny

BizTown

5th Grade Parents- The BizTown Field Trip is Friday, May 6 and we need help!

What is BizTown?

BizTown is a simulated town that our students get to run for the day. Prior to the field trip, they apply for and are assigned jobs. Once at BizTown, they fill these jobs and simulate real life.

How can I help?

*Help facilitate BizTown Interviews on Friday, April 8, 8:45-10am. You’ll be trained right before the interviews in the Sampson cafeteria. We need 50 volunteers. Sign up here https://sampsonpto.membershiptoolkit.com/volunteer/86918

*Chaperone the Field Trip on Friday, May 6. The field trip is at the Junior Achievement facility on Dacoma St. You must be trained to attend. Training is offered Friday, April 8 @ 8am (before BizTown interviews) OR Thursday, April 21 @ 9:30am. Sign up for a training date to let us know you’re going to chaperone on May 6. We need, at minimum, 32 volunteers. Sign up here https://sampsonpto.membershiptoolkit.com/volunteer/86910

It won't be long before our annual book character parade is back! Please save the date for Friday, April 22. Our kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students will bring books to life dressing up as book characters. Get those costumes and books ready!

1st grade has a special treat on April 5 with an amazing author visit with Mac Barnett. Students can purchase his newest book, which won't even be released until April 5, through the Blue Willow website. Please see the attached order form. When the books arrive, Mrs. Maddan will pick them up from the store and deliver them to students. What a great chance to support a terrific bookstore (you must visit it!) and a favorite author. The link is on the attached form, and here as well: https://www.bluewillowbookshop.com/virtual-visit-mac-barnett-zapfino

PBIS & Student Council

Our first Snack Attack was a HUGE success! Thank you so much for letting your children participate. It was fun to watch the kids excitedly shop for their snacks for the day. We will use the funds raised to purchase PBIS rewards, materials for students' learning and put some toward the Student Council Scholarship awarded to a former Sampson Stallion who is graduating this spring.

We greatly appreciate your support,

The PBIS & Student Council Committees

SRC

5th grade parents…looking for one final way to get involved in your child’s class?!? The very last training opportunity for SRC is coming up March 29 and the topic is CSI. Here’s what that will look like:

The students are solving a “crime” to see if they can figure out which teacher took one of the SRC animals. They analyze fiber samples with a microscope, test two different markers, and analyze fingerprints to see if they can determine who has the animal.

Please contact Emily Johnson at mrsejohnson@gmail.com if you are interested and would like more information. Thank you!
