Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is going on this week. Students are able to stop by before school, during their Advisory class, or with their ELA classes. Tonight, Wednesday the 8th, the Book Fair will be open from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Please enter door 4 on Park Street. Thanks for helping support our school and for supporting a love of reading within your kids!

Veterans Day Assembly

We will have a very special assembly on Friday, November 10th, from 8:00-9:00 a.m. to honor our Ben Franklin families who have served or are serving in the military. If you are a parent or grandparent and would like to attend, we would love to have you come. Please plan to enter and exit through Door 5 where you will sign in. There is an accessible entrance at Door 6, if needed. Our 8th grade choir, orchestra, and band will perform and some of our Student Council members will make introductions. We also look forward to hearing from veteran Dr. Frataccia. Thanks to all who have helped organize this special event!

Good Luck to Our Spell Bowl Team!

Our B.F. Spell Bowl Team will be attending the State Finals competition at Purdue University on Saturday. Good luck to our team! Thanks to our kids, families, and Coaches Gioia, Strauss, and Sattler for all of your hard work. We are so proud of you!

Student Council News

Student Council is holding their annual "Jar Wars" competition November 6th - 17th. Jar Wars is a competition between advisory classes to raise money to help Valparaiso Community School families in need so they may have a happy holiday season. Every coin collected will count as positive points and every paper bill used to "bomb" other advisory classes will count as negative points. One hundred percent of the money raised from "Jar Wars" will go toward the needy family fund. The three classes with the most positive points at the end win a pizza party! Thanks for helping support our families.

Lost & Found

Our lost & found is overflowing with items! Is your child missing a sweatshirt or jacket? It could be on the tables outside of the main office. Please encourage your child to check here if he or she is missing an item. We will donate all leftover items over Thanksgiving Break.

Valparaiso Schools Foundation News

Major Saver cards can be purchased online at The cards are $15 each. Once again, VSF will give $2 back per card sold at each school. Over $9,500 was disbursed last year! Thanks again for your participation this year!

Study Table

Could your child use some quiet homework and study time? Then Study Table is just the right place! On Mondays-Thursdays from 3:00-3:45 p.m. in the Media Center a staff member will offer a supervised, quiet location for your child to complete homework and study. Please note that Study Table will not be held the day before a long weekend. A late bus is available if transportation home is needed. Please let us know if you have any questions about Study Table.
