Who Says Women Can't Be Doctors
Tanga Lee Stone
"Men are the only people who can be doctors! Women would just mess things up." That's what people used to think. Well, they are wrong. One brave woman proved them all wrong. Her name was Elizabeth Blackwell. She stood up to what she believed in, and became the first woman doctor.
Women can be anything they set their mind to.
Back when Elizabeth Blackwell was a young girl, women were not allowed to be doctors. She was a girl who always thought that there could be a way. She perservered, and later became the first woman doctor. I like that she never gave up. She was inspired by a friend that she attended to when sick. Her friend told her that she should be a doctor.
Perserverence realy pays off!
Elizabeth sent off for many colleges for doctors. But, since she was a girl, they wouldn't except her. Finally, when she was so sad that she was about to give up, a college excepted her, despite that she was a girl. Elizabeth was so happy that she danced for joy.
Never Give up
Elizabeth studied very hard, and was one of the best students at graduation. Not only was she one of the best students because of her grades, but also because she worked hard, and never gave up. As Elizabeth took her diploma, all of the students cheered and clapped as they relised that she had made history.
Who Says That Women Can't Be Doctors!?
As you can see, Elizabeth was one of the people who changed the world. She set her mind to being the first woman doctor, perservered, and prevailed. She set everyone believing, and changed their mind completly. Now, as you know when we think of doctors, we think of women. But, the story of Elizabeth Blackwell proves that it wasn't always that was. So let's clap and cheer for Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman doctor!
