Academics

Reader's Workshop

We are learning about story elements and working on comparing and contrasting characters, setting, and plot. We will also be focusing on main ideas and summarizing.

Writer's Workshop

We are working on narrative writing. Our focus is on infusing our voice and showing our readers what is happening instead of telling them. All of the students are working hard and making thoughtful revisions!

Math

We will be wrapping up our first unit soon. The students have been introduced to the traditional methods of multiplication and division. They have also started working through order of operation problems. We will start working with volume of rectangular prisms and irregular shapes.

Social Studies

We have just started our first social studies unit. The students will be learning about a Native American group and teaching the rest of the class about their findings. They will then be researching an explorer and seeing how the explorer interacted with the natives.
