Sparking Creativity & Sharing Ideas to enhance instruction
JPS Reads!!
We are so excited to share our excitement about JPS Reads!! Our community wide reading program begins January 16th, spotlights our continuing focus on literacy, and will showcase our love for developing our students into lifelong learners and readers. Involving our parents and community is important because growing a love of reading starts early. Reading relaxes the mind, opens doors to new possibilities, and helps all of us build a strong foundation for success. Share the reading fun in your classroom at #JPSReads!! Together...We Are Jenison and We Read to Succeed!!
Books Matter
This info graphic first published by First Book, a non-profit organization that provides new books and educational resources to schools and programs serving children in need shows how important it truly is to get books in our kids hands often and early. Books make a difference in kids' lives and help shape our education. A love of books and reading starts at home and continues in our schools. Let's get more books in our kids' hands today!
Classroom Libraries
We want to start to fill our classroom libraries in order to help foster that love of reading we want to see in our students. Having easy access to a variety of book levels, genres, and loved authors is so important to encouraging daily reading. We want to have our books organized and make our space cozy and inviting so our students are excited to spend some time in text!
Book Donations
Book Donations are one way we can inexpensively work together with our parents and community to build us our classroom libraries. Parents often have books that their children have outgrown sitting around at home waiting to be donated. Having a place where parents can easily donate used books will help all of us grow our libraries. This Book Drop is located outside of Bauerwood Elementary and our goal is to have something like this at every elementary building in our district!
