Summer School Opportunities...
Summer Enrichment Programs @ Wilson (SIGS and Plano Arts)
Parents of students who received an invitation from their PACE teacher to attend the SIGS Program (grades 1-7) or from their Art teacher to attend the Plano Arts (PArts) Program (grades 5-7) – registration is currently underway and we look forward to your student joining us! The program will begin on Wednesday, June 8, and end Thursday, June 30 (Monday through Friday from 7:45-11:45). Registration details can be located on the invitation. The Wilson SIGS Staff look forward to seeing your child this summer!

Please take a moment to complete the below Parent Engagement Survey. The information we collect will help us evaluate the relationship between parents and our school. We are always looking for ways to improve the home-school connection.
There are many ways in which parents may be involved in the education of their child. Extensive research has shown that activities such as reading and communicating with the child and setting expectations have the largest effect on student achievement. Other forms of parental involvement, such as attendance and participation in school functions, also contribute positively to achievement in school.
This Parental Engagement Survey will help us understand some of the ways in which parents are engaged in the education of their child. This information will guide us in providing support to the parents in our community.
With the 2015-2016 school year in mind, please take a moment to answer this brief survey. Thank you for your participation.

rotary club - citizens of the year nominations
Parents of 4th and 5th grade students, the Plano Rotary Club Citizen of the Year program is around the corner and nomination forms are due by April 28th. Current 4th and 5th grade students have the opportunity to apply for this special recognition by completing a nomination form available from your child's teacher. Students may have help from parents or teachers with the application, but it should be in the student’s own writing and they should focus on sharing their school environment in how it relates to others. The six character traits are: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Community service outside of school can be highlighted too. We appreciate the Plano Rotary Club for providing our campus with the opportunity to participate in the Citizen of the Year Banquet showcasing our students.
The Plano Rotary Club Citizen of the Year Banquet will be hosted on Wednesday, May 25, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn, located at 15th Street and Central Expressway in Plano. This banquet will honor our campus and one boy and one girl from the 4th and 5th grades. The Citizens of the Year will be selected based upon the submitted nomination forms. Nomination forms are available from your child's teacher.

2016 bond information meetings to be hosted by superintendent at six high schools this spring
Plano ISD community members are invited to attend any of six information meetings to be hosted this spring about the district’s May 7 bond election proposal. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Binggeli will present information and answer questions. Meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the district’s high schools on the following dates:
- April 13 (Wednesday) - Jasper High School (presentation room), 6800 Archgate Drive, Plano, TX 75024
- April 25 (Monday) - Vines High School (presentation room), 1401 Highedge Drive, Plano, TX 75075
- April 28 (Thursday) - Shepton High School (library), 5505 Plano Parkway, Plano, TX 75093
About the May 7 Bond Election
On May 7, Collin County voters residing within the Plano ISD attendance zone will be asked to consider a single proposition to provide $481 million toward eight major project areas with no increase to the tax rate. If approved, all Plano ISD campuses will be impacted by district-wide security updates, renovations and facility upgrades, as well as technology improvements. THE GREAT AMERICAN CAN ROUNDUP
SIGLER ELEMENTARY JOINS THE GREAT AMERICAN CAN ROUNDUP
Sigler Elementary has joined The Great American Can Roundup again this year to help fight litter, save valuable resources and conserve energy contributing to a sustainable future. The proceeds Sigler garners from recycling used aluminum cans will be used to fund various class projects and purchasing school supplies. Last year, Sigler earned 257 dollars and purchased two Sphero Robotic Balls. We came in second place in the state by collecting 600 lbs. of aluminum cans.
Sigler Elementary desires to be the top recycling school in Texas, win $1000 and with the donation of your cans it will increase the chance of our school winning.
Please consider donating your used, all-aluminum beverage cans or your receipts from your recycling center until April 22nd.
The Great American Can Roundup is sponsored by the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), which represents beverage can makers and suppliers to the industry and is committed to ensuring that all aluminum cans are recycled. The Great American Can Roundup initiative is in celebration of the 76th anniversary of the beverage can and to help schools like Sigler Elementary in their efforts to recycle cans for cash.
