Visualize
Use details from the story to help you form a picture in your mind as you read. It can help you understand how the characters feel. Close your eyes! You can change your visual in your mind as you read and gain more information.
Sequence
Plot events are told in the order they happen. A plot always has a beginning, middle, and end.
Realistic Fiction
Realistic fiction means the story is not real but it seems real. (Example: artificial flowers) The story is a made up story that could really happen. It has a beginning, middle, and end. It has illustrations (pictures) and dialogue (people talking using quotation marks).
Context Clues
If you come across a word you don't know while you're reading, look at other words in the sentence for clues to help you figure out it's meaning.
