A Note About Attendance:
Last year the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education made a slight change to the system they use to hold schools accountable. DESE now holds schools accountable for the number of students that are “chronically absent” over the course of the year. Chronically absent means missing school 10% of the time…..or 2 days per month, 9 for the first half of the year or 18 over the course of the year.
Research has shown a direct correlation between student performance and attendance. Missing just 2 days per month can have a negative impact on student performance. Those days can add up fast over the year and we need your help. Poor school attendance not only impacts your child but also our school overall.
We fully understand that kids will miss school. Things come up, life happens and kids need to be out. Overall, however, we ask that you please do your best to ensure that your child is present on school days.
Should you have any questions about this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Middleboro Swimming Families
This is a just a quick reminder that our SWIMMING online store is only open until Monday 11/4 (next Monday). The deadline is early so we could get delivery in time for the start of the season per request of some of the parents. I understand this may not get to new team members so if you know anyone coming out that was not on the team last year please forward to them. You must go on this week/weekend to place you order. The window is short don't miss out!

I would also like to address some questions about our co-op with Whitman Hanson. All WH participants that have already been part of our program will be permitted to finish out their high school swimming career as members of our team per MIAA rule. We must apply for a waiver each year to allow for this co-op and we must also apply for a waiver to allow middle school students to participate. We may or may not be granted these waivers and our preference is to first obtain the waiver for middle school students as they are Middleborough residents. Once we receive a decision on middle school students we will also apply for the co-op. I hope everyone can understand the rationale behind this decision. Looking forward to the swim season, we have some exciting upgrades coming to the pool as well!
