Planning for Home Learning
Preparation
Devices
Here is what you can expect for student device access:
Grades K-3 will have access to materials through their parents devices using SeeSaw.
*Not all students will have equal access to internet at home; therefore, we can not make the work we send home electronically mandatory. We will handle device requests on a case by case basis in grades K-3.
Google Classroom
Google classroom provides a simple way to organize lessons and materials. It will even help to facilitate questions and discussions.
WELCOME TO YOUR FIRST DAY OF CLASSROOM (This is a treasure trove of videos and help guides)
Parents will be encouraged to stay informed by utilizing their guardian emails and also by looking on with their children as they log in. If you are creating a class for the first time, I would advise you click the invite guardians button for each student. This will allow them to get the guardian emails. This process is automated but those emails typically are set to go out at the end of each month. I am looking into having a forced push this week to make sure every parent gets one.
SeeSaw
For Parents:
We will be sending a communication to parents that will includes the following resources. We will also include codes for parents to use so that their child(ren) can access the SeeSaw Class App at home.

Strategies
- If you have PowerPoint presentations, you can utilize the record slide show option and then upload the video. This will not only give students the slides you need them to see but it will include your instruction as well as annotations.
- If you have a Google Slides or Smart Notebook presentation, you can convert to PowerPoint and follow the same procedure. Alternatively you can use a screen recording application such as Screencast-O-Matic to record your presentation. The free version of Screencast-o-matic limits the length of your recording so you will need to delvier your lesson in small chunks.
- You can upload a video into flipgrid and then ask for student responses either with a video of themselves or with the whiteboard feature. Check this out!
Supplemental Video Resources:
- You may create your own videos presentations as described above.
- Youtube
- Edpuzzle
Student Products/Tools/Interactive Ideas:
- FlipGrid
- ThinkTech
- WeVideo
- Adobe Spark
- Any Google Suite App
- Kami
- Padlet
- Zearn
- Lexia
- Reading Plus
- and many more....
Student-Built Projects and Hard Copies: If you have projects being constructed at home or hard copy work, students can submit pictures or videos of finished products through SeeSaw or Google Classroom.
*Please consider login procedures for the above listed applications. Be sure to include instructions for parents and students as needed.
