Chippewa Middle School 5th Grade Parent Information Night - Tuesday Feb. 8
Attention 5th Grade families - During their visit to Turtle Lake on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, the Chippewa dean team provided an overview of what middle school life looks like and how they help support the transition from elementary school. After you and your student have time to chat about next year, please fill out this google form by February 11th to indicate which elective course they would like to take.
Please join us for Chippewa's Middle School Parent Information Night on Tuesday, February 8, starting at 6:15 pm. This is a great opportunity to meet teachers, visit classrooms and discover what makes Chippewa a special place for middle school students. We will share the presentation as well as additional information about the sixth grade curriculum on our website for families who are not able to attend or who prefer a virtual option.
This information night is geared toward parents of incoming sixth graders. Your student will have an opportunity to tour and learn more about Chippewa this spring. If you have any questions, please call us at 651-621-6400 or call your student's Chippewa dean (contact information can be found on our website).
Kids Heart Challenge Underway
We are excited to be partnering once again with the American Heart Association through February 9th for a service learning program. Kids Heart Challenge teaches students how to care for their hearts -- physically and emotionally -- while raising life saving donations to fight the nation's #1 killer, heart disease, and helping those with special hearts. Look for the information and fundraising packet that came home with your student last week and be sure to ask them about what they can do to make a difference. To log into our school fundraising page and register to participate, click here.

New Benefit May Help Families Buy Food
A new federal benefit is helping eligible families purchase food if their children are out of school due to COVID-19. Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) offers qualifying families a per-child benefit of $7.10 for each missed day when COVID-19 keeps their children home from school. Learn more about the P-EBT program here.
Eligible families must be receiving Educational Benefits. If you think you might qualify for this program, learn more and apply here. Contact Nutrition Services with questions at nutritionservices@moundsviewschools.org or 651-621-6022.
Clarifying Operations During Pandemic
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) recently announced it has officially adopted shortened COVID-19 isolation and quarantine periods of five days. This shift aligns with the new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and it focuses on reducing the spread of the omicron variant in schools with fewer disruptions to in-person learning.
The District’s COVID Resources website now contains some clarifications and updates since it was first published last week. To remain current with how schools are operating under the new guidance, visit www.moundsviewschools.org/covidresources.
