Winter Weather reminder

Winter weather is upon us. Students will have outdoor recess unless it's below zero, and students should have the appropriate gear for outdoor recess; winter coat, hats, gloves (and snow pants and boots when appropriate if they want to be on the non-blacktop area).

Additionally, it is helpful to have kids' coats, snow pants, and other items (such as water bottles) labeled as it will be easily identified if it ends up in the lost and found.

A December of Generosity (It's our Superpower!)

We learned about Veterans during our assembly last month, now we want to practice generosity. Our Anderson Student Council recognized a wayour students can be generous towards Homeless Veterans in our area. Each grade level is asked to donate a specific item that will be delivered to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton, IL. I can’t wait to see how much we can help others. Generosity is one of our Superpowers! See the list below and ask your child if they would like to be generous and help others in need.

  • 5th Grade: Laundry Pods (Soap)

  • 4th Grade: Garbage Bags (Any size)

  • 3rd Grade: Toothpaste/Toothbrushes

  • 2nd Grade: Quart-Sized Ziplock Bags

  • 1st. Grade: Cleaning Supplies (towels, sponges, scrubbers)

  • Kindergarten: Reusable Bags (New)

A note about Bus Transporation

For those of you that are bus riders and have experienced some bussing delays this year, we at Anderson want to apologize and let you know we are in constant contact with the transportation department and are working hard to try to make sure we have reliable bussing transportation for the students.

We realize late buses can be frustrating and can impact working parents and parents who have appointments, etc. and we communicate concerns to the transportation department that parents bring to our attention.

When buses are running late, transportation will notify parents of the delay via email.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

As a side note, CUSD303 is hiring bus drivers. See the flyer below for more information

Is your Contact Information Up to Date?

As we inch closer to December, please remember to make sure the contact information you’ve provided the District is up-to-date. We want to ensure you’re getting timely alerts on inclement weather operations and other important notifications. Please take a moment to do the following:

View Notification Preferences/Enable Text Messages
District 303 will send notifications to families through the ParentLink system by text message, phone call and email based on your settings. Parents/guardians can view and edit their contact settings through the Home Access Center.
To receive timely emergency communications, we strongly encourage families to enable text notifications. For most people, this is the fastest way to receive and view important messages. Here’s how:

  • From the HAC main menu, select the “registration” tab to view your contact settings
  • Select the “edit” button to change your contact settings
  • To enable text message notifications, enter your cell phone number in the SMS/text message field
  • Select the “save” button
Users can only update their child(ren) and personal contact information. You will not be able to make changes to another parent/guardian's contact information. For updates to emergency contact people, please reach out to the school directly.
