HVCHS Counseling Newsletter
January '22
Welcome back Bulldogs!
As we embark on the second half of the school year and navigate the continued uncertainties of the pandemic, we would like to ensure that all of our community members are aware of the wide range of mental health resources available in our area. Please review the district's Family Mental Health Services and Support Organizations Reference Guide.
Further, please never hesitate to reach out to your (or your child's) School Counselor if there is a concern you feel we should be aware of, even while operating remotely this week. We are always here for you, and each counselor's contact information is listed at the end of this bulletin!
Important Dates in January
We have several important programs planned for the month of January, including:

Please click here to register for the Junior Planning Night webinar. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing joining information.
For those who are unable to attend, a recording of the event and a copy of the slides will be posted on the Counseling website under "Parent Presentations."

LGBTQ 201. Come. Listen. Ask. Learn.
"Hope Rises Up and Prism—Bending the Light are partnering with Hopewell Valley Regional
School District and Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance for an evening centered in education and advocacy surrounding issues that impact the LGBTQ+ community, particularly our students.
We will be offering multiple sessions with qualified panelists discussing issues of mental
health, affirming faith spaces, working with allies in law enforcement, local resources for LGBTQ+ students and families, and more."

ASVAB Testing - 1/20/21
Are you interested in joining a branch of the military after high school? If so, you will be required to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test, and CHS just so happens to be offering the ASVAB test on Thursday, January 20th at 7:45 AM in-person at CHS.
Interested students must register by January 6th, 2022, so if you'd like to take the ASVAB, please email elizabethlee@hvrsd.org asap!
To learn more about the ASVAB, please use this link: https://www.military.com/join-armed-forces/asvab.
PSAT testing & score reports...
PSAT score reports (including detailed breakdowns of all correct and incorrect answers) have been released through College Board's website, and in order to access scores all students will need to register for an account.
It is very important that when students register with College Board they use the same email address that they entered on their PSAT answer sheet. Parents: if you are creating an account for your child, please be sure to ask them which address they listed.
Additional information regarding PSAT scores can be found here.
Parchment - alumni transcript services
NOTE: This is NOT how our current students should request transcripts for colleges, summer programs, etc. That process is detailed on our counseling website, and has been explained extensively to our current seniors.
