What's shakin' @ New Canaan High School Library?

Yeah, we've got that!

In October, students borrowed a record number of textbooks from the library - nearly 3,000! That's 153 textbooks per day, as opposed to 23 print books (non-textbook) and 14 eBooks per day. But our collection includes far more than books. Check out this video, where class of 2016ers, Jessica Dantas and Austin Alastor realize that we lend iPod chargers. In fact, we lend quite an array of instructional peripherals. For example, we recently added the Lightning power adaptor cable used to charge iPhone5s to the collection. Take a peek at some of our circulation statistics below.

Thanks to student and teacher participation in a Follett survey about their eReader, we just won another 5 iPad2s! That brings our number of circulating iPads up to 27, including 7 iPad1s. Add that to our 13 iPod Touches, and we have 40 devices in circulation. Now, all students can participate in app-centric instructional experiences when we visit classes.

Starting in January 2013, students and faculty will be able to borrow laptop computers from the New Canaan High School library. We will have two MacBook Pros and two IBM ThinkPads available for in-house, one-hour lending. Parents are invited to complete, and sign the NCHS laptop lending agreement so that their students may borrow library laptop computers.
