MUSIC NOTES
MUSIC CONCERTS A SUCCESS
Congratulations to all performers in our concerts last week. It was so much fun to watch their personalities shine.
If your student is interested in joining band (4th and 5th grade) or choir (3rd, 4th, and 5th graders) the new year is a great time to join! Please contact Mrs. Hardman at 892-9743 if you are interested.
JUNIOR NATIVE YOUTH OLYMPICS
Big Lake Elementary 5th graders can join the JNYO Team. Coach Barrett will run practices starting on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 8 am - 9 am Monday through Friday.
Athletes will compete in the following events:
- One Foot High KIck
- Alaskan High Kick
- Eskimo Stick Pull
- 6th Annual Mat-Su JNYO Event on February 10th at Houston Middle School
- Alaska State Tournament will be February 23rd, 24th, and 25th at the UAA Wells Fargo Arena in Anchorage
The fee to participate is $5 and you will receive a JNYO T-shirt. Pick up a permission slip and insurance form from Mrs. Mason in the front office. Google the events to see what they look like.
WINTER GEAR
All children need to be dressed appropriately for the weather while waiting at the bus stop and playing at recess. They should wear boots, snow pants, coats, gloves, and a hat. Please make sure your children have these items. Younger children have a hard time regulating their body temperature and do not always know when they are getting cold. If they do not have the appropriate gear they will not be allowed to go to recess. The school has very few items that students may borrow.
