Good Afternoon Shark Families,
Committed to Success,
In third grade, we learned how natural disasters affect human lives. Today students were given the challenge of using toothpicks and marshmallows to design a structure that could withstand the shaking in a pan of jello that represented an earthquake.
In Lower Montessori, Mrs. Squires class implemented the engineering and design process by designing their own sledding ramps. Their goal was to see how far their sled could travel. Afterwards, they discussed what they could do to make it better, how friction can affect the motion, and then they got to redesign it and test again! What they took away from this STEM activity is how the height of a ramp affects the speed and distance of an object that slides down it!
5th Grade Social Studies
In fifth grade, students learned Social Studies concepts by participating in a trench warfare simulation to understand how soldiers fought in WWI.

K3/K4/K5 Registration-spread the word!
Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-2022 school year is open!
Parents can begin the registration process online by entering their information into the New Student Gateway.
Children turning 5 years old on or before September 1, 2021 must register for 5K (Note: children currently enrolled in an SDPC 4K program are automatically pre-registered and do not need to complete the online registration).
Children turning 4 years old on before September 1, 2021 may register for 4K. Our preschool programs are not universal; our 4K programs meet the needs of children who are considered “at-risk” based on established criteria (Note: children currently enrolled in an SDPC 3K program are automatically pre-registered and do not need to complete the online registration).
Children turning 3 years old on or before September 1, 2021 may register for 3K at Liberty Primary School. All students must screen and qualify. Priority is given to students who live in the Liberty area attendance zone.
Before registering, we encourage parents to check what school they are zoned for by using our School Locator. If you have questions about registration, please call your future school directly. Phone numbers for all of our schools are listed in the School Directory.
