Sherman ISD Fights the Flu

Big picture

Sherman ISD has partnered with Healthy Schools, the nation’s largest school vaccine provider, to offer flu shots to your child during the school day. The copay is $0, so there is no cost to you.

The CDC recommends a flu shot as your child’s #1 defense against the flu. Our district’s goal is to ensure that flu shots are available to 100% of our students. Help us as Sherman ISD fights the flu.

Learn more & sign up your child for a flu shot before November 30th and December 3rd. To register online click HERE. #ShermanISDFightstheFlu #flushotsmakeHealthySchools

Children's Telehealth Offered at Neblett Elementary and Fred Douglass Early Childhood Center

Big picture
We’re proud to partner with Children's Health to provide a convenient option for care for our students at Neblett Elementary and Fred Douglass Early Childhood Learning Center, if they get sick at school. With parent’s permission, our school nurse can use video technology to connect your child with a Children’s Health doctor or nurse practitioner. Your child can be diagnosed and have prescriptions sent to your pharmacy, all without having to leave school or you having to leave work, in most cases. Sherman ISD Recognizes School Priority Month

Big picture
Sherman ISD recognized the month of October as ‘School Priority Month’ to promote local public schools and foster important relationships with locally elected officials from every level of government.

School Priority Month takes place every other year prior to a legislative session, and this year, Sherman ISD joined with Van Alstyne ISD, Gunter ISD, S&S CISD, and Whitewright ISD, for the 2018 Make Education a Priority day event.

Each school district invited locally elected officials from every level of government to visit and tour Van Alstyne High School. The attendees were able to visit classrooms, join in on lessons, and hear firsthand information from students about the great work taking place in their public school. After the tour, a teacher, student and superintendent panel was held. Students, teachers, and superintendents from each school district were asked specific questions about their current experience in the public education system and gave their thoughts on how elected officials could advocate for Texas public schools.

Fred Douglass Early childhood Center Teacher, Ms. Maralene Aldridge, Piner Middle School student Alan Salazar, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Hicks, represented Sherman ISD during the teacher, student and superintendent panels.

New SHS Groundbreaking

Big picture
On Monday, October 1, 2018, Sherman ISD celebrated the groundbreaking for the new Sherman High School. Parents, students, Sherman ISD staff, and community members were all present to celebrate the future of Sherman ISD and the construction of the new high school, which will open in August of 2020. Please enjoy the video below, produced by Hustle Hustle Production company, which highlights the groundbreaking event.

Visit the Bond Project Web Page!

As many of you know, construction of the new Sherman High School is underway, and technology upgrades have already taken place throughout the district. Most importantly, we are proud that in August of 2020, our students will have a new learning space, developed and designed with community, staff, parent and student input.

We are happy to provide you with bond updates and information as we move forward with our projects. We thank you all for your support of the 2017 bond and invite you to visit www.ShermanISD.net/BondUpdate for the most recent bond project information. #BuildingBearcats #SISDBondUpdate
