Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
With the weather changing and fluctuating, please be sure to dress your children in layers so they can add or remove a layer as needed throughout the day.
This week I started observing our teachers using our district tool. I was so impressed with the engagement and interest of the children. I am focusing my first observations on math- it was so exciting to witness the students learning about big math vocabulary like 'attributes' or noticing patterns on a number chart counting by 5s and 10s. Math is such a fun subject to watch!
I am excited to announce that our Step it Up fundraiser gathered almost $12,000 for Bushnell to use toward student incentives, technology, classroom materials and more! We appreciate beyond measure how our community supported this effort! In the spring, we will have our DAY OF AWESOMENESS to celebrate our students! Prizes the children earned are due to arrive next week and will be handed out as soon as they come in!
If you look ahead on our October calendar you may see that we have a half day of school on October 27. Dismissal time is 11:50 on this day. This is a staff professional development day where teachers will be engaged in learning opportunities!
We will be holding our Halloween celebrations on Friday, October 29 starting with an outdoor parade at 1:00. Students will parade around the entire outside of our school and parents are welcome to attend! Classroom parties will be for students and staff only as we are still trying to limit the amount of people in classrooms. In the event of inclement weather that day, the parade will be indoors and for students only. Teachers will send out details about parties soon.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Erin Walters
