EARLY RELEASE FRIDAY, MARCH 3rd!!
PLEASE CHECK OUR LOST & FOUND
All in all we've done a pretty good job of getting things back to their rightful owners, however this past week the pile grew rapidly!
Stop in and check to be sure none of it belongs at your house. Any leftovers will be donated to the Thrift Shop.
Parent Outreach
Together we can share and learn what might work best for your child. Each of our children need to feel successful to have the growth and confidence to achieve their purpose in life. This is the foundational level of learning, so if we can get our children to love learning now, encourage the positive behaviors of doing homework, studying.. the possibilities are endless as they go through the rest of their school years.
Monday, March 13th, from 5pm-6pm

READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY
NEA's Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss's birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too!
“Read To Kids Day’
It’s never too cold,
Too wet or too hot
To pick up a book
And share what you’ve got.
You’re never too old,
Too wacky or wild
To pick up a book
And read to a child.
In churches and chambers
Let’s gather around
Let’s pick up a book
Let’s pass it around.
There are children around you
Children in need
Of someone who’ll hug
Someone who’ll read.
So join us March 2nd
In your own special way,
And make this America’s

Mud & Clothes
Spring is on the way!! Well, pretty soon and we’ve had some pretty rainy days which also means it’s MuDdY.
As parents we want our kids to be dry and clean. That is our goal at school too! We think it would be really great idea if each child had an extra set of clothes in their backpack all the time. (A pair of pants and undies) That way if they have the misfortune of a puddle fall, spill or accident, they can climb right into a clean set of their own clothes.
Also, if your child has had to borrow clothes from school, if you could please be so kind as to look thru your closets and dressers for anything that belongs to school and return it, we would be SO grateful! We are completely out of pants again!!

Schoolwide Title I
What is a Schoolwide Title I program?
Neal Wilkins ELC is considered a Title I Schoolwide program. A Title I Schoolwide program is a method of delivering title I services in eligible schools. It allows the school to address the educational needs of all students living in a community with an economic disadvantaged elementary student population of 40% or greater. As a Title I Schoolwide program, our Title services can provide comprehensive strategies for improving the entire school so every student achieves high levels of academic proficiency.
Schoolwide programs have the latitude to determine how to organize their operations and allocate the multiple funding sources available to them. They do not have to identify particular children as eligible for services. Schoolwide programs can use all allocated funds to increase the amount and quality of learning time. In this way, they can embrace a high-quality curriculum according to a comprehensive plan that ensures all children meet the state’s challenging academic standards.
Schoolwide programs serve all children in the school. All staff, resources, and classes are part of the overall Schoolwide program. The purpose is to generate high levels of academic achievement in core subject areas for all students, especially those most in need. The purpose is achieved through:
~High quality instruction.
~Programming based on the use of scientifically based research.
~Strategies and methods to improve teacher quality and professional development.
~Consolidated use of funds.
Some students simply need more time and direct, explicit instruction in order to succeed. Classroom teachers and instructional support staff will utilize data from benchmark assessments and classroom work to determine those showing the greatest need. Students showing the greatest need, and who are not receiving special education services, are serviced first.
How are parents involved?
Parents are notified about instructional support services.
Parents, teachers, and students sign a compact that indicates goals and shared responsibilities of the child, school and parents for student success.
Parents are encouraged to participate in school activities/meetings.
Parents may participate in Title I meetings and learning opportunities.
Parents are provided Title I information via newsletters, conferences, and parent involvement plan.
What can parents do?
Share a love of learning and set a good example by reading, practicing math facts, playing with money (identify coins/make change), writing letters and/or lists, comparing prices, etc.
Make learning fun by playing educational games, visiting the library, and listening to and talking with your child.
Show interest in your child’s school day by asking specific questions and praising effort and improvement.
As a Schoolwide Title I program, all families are asked to sign a learning agreement for your child. As a building, we welcome your ideas and feedback about our instructional services.
