BBI Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Katie Tran
6th grade
Language Arts Teacher
How long have you been at BBI? This is my first year.
Where are you from and where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Katy, Texas.
What inspired you to work with children? I first started out wanting to teach because I wanted to coach high school softball. After visiting a variety of classrooms for observations, I realized that I just love the joy a child can bring to you each and every day. I saw how one teacher could make a student’s day, as well as how one student could make a teacher’s day.
What is your favorite book? Small Steps by Peg Kehret
What was your favorite subject in school? Math
If you could learn to one thing, what would it be? I would love to learn how to sing well.
If you could have any other career, what would it be? Ah that is a tough one because I don't see myself doing anything else besides teaching. If I had to choose another profession, I would either follow my dad and be an engineer, or I would open a crafting store like The Farmhouse Paint and Sip.
Who do you consider your hero? My sister is my HERO because she has gone through so many tough times, yet through all of the ups and downs she still manages to stay positive and never lets anyone know when she is struggling.
People would be surprised to know… that I played college softball in Nashville, TN, but threw out my shoulder and had to return home to Texas to graduate from SHSU.
