Odds N Ends
Candy - if you find any awesome deals on candy, our class candy bucket is out and we would appreciate any candy donations.
Google Logins - students have their google logins - we have started to use google classroom to assign work and to try things out. We usually have the iPads in the morning and have been utilizing them when we can.
Extra Credit - You can print off extra credit pages from my teacher page at our third-grade website www.sunflowerthirdgrade.com or students can grab a sheet in the classroom to take home to work on. It is entirely up to them to take it.
Extra Work- If students do any extra online work or studying, please note it in their planner. They receive extra classroom reward points for each thing they do. This can be studying flashcards, practicing spelling, working out math problems, or going on frontrowed, or our reading/math curriculum sites.
If you have any questions about planners, reading logs, and or AR please look at the very bottom of this newsletter. I will continue to leave that information at the bottom so that you will always have access to it.

Helpful Info
AR (Accelerated Reader)
AR - Students read at home -suggested 20 minutes a night. They are given a point goal for the quarter. Picture books are worth .5, or half a point. Chapter books can range in point value depending on their content. In order for students to make their goal, they need to have reached their point goal along with keeping an overall 80% comprehension. Please encourage your child to take the AR quizzes. Students can only take quizzes at school. Parents can login to homeconnect (link below in the techie tools) with their student's login information and check their progress. You can also set it up to receive an email with your student's scores when they take a quiz.
Reading Logs
Students have a red reading log folder they should keep, along with a book, in their book-in-a-bag. One side of each page(5 questions) is for one week. They will receive 10 points for each question on the page. They are required to have at least 3 questions answered, and only one question per night. Students have Monday-Sunday to fill out those 3 questions. Students turn in the reading log on Monday morning. They can keep the same book if they would like to read it a second time, or if they are not finished with it. Once they are done, they should take an AR test on the book and checkout another book.
