WEEKLY THEME: Happy Birthday Jesus!
As a part of our classroom ministry to others, we will have a Birthday Party for Jesus. In the past, I served many years as the children’s director in a church setting. We always had a cake and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus as a part of the season’s celebrations. One day a small child came to me with a concern and a question. A small face inquired, “Where are the birthday presents for baby Jesus?” That question stopped me in my tracks and made me think. The child was right! How can you have a birthday party without gifts?
So, the next year and every year thereafter, birthday presents were brought to the Christ Child to celebrate His most precious birthday. Our party for Jesus will be on Tuesday, December 16th at 1:45. We would like to invite all parents and siblings attend.
Each child may bring a gift for a new born infant. During the party time, each gift will be placed in the manger in honor of Jesus. For Jesus said “that if we do it to the least of our brothers and sisters, we have done it unto Him.” The gifts will be shared with a pregnancy care center. They are delighted to be able to provide help to new moms and their new babies.
After our gifts are presented, we will all share in birthday cake and have a fun Cookie Walk. Please put that day and time on your calendar. You don’t want to miss this opportunity.
Gifts are strictly voluntary but if you wish to participate, please have gifts at school no later than Monday, December 14th (same time as cookies and boxes are due). You may wrap the gift or simply place it in a gift bag.
Happy Birthday Jesus!
Christmas in the Manger
Who Is Coming to Our House?
"Who is coming to our house? Someone, someone," says Mouse. As Pig makes room, Lamb cleans up, Goose stacks the hay, and Duck lines the crib with eiderdown, Mary and Joseph are on their way by donkey. All the animals welcome the baby Jesus to their home.
BIBLE BASICS
The history of the birth of Jesus will be explored for the next two weeks as we learn about some of the ways God keeps his promises.
Beginning this week, we will “visit” the stable and hear the cow’s bell, taste a candy cane as a reminder of the shepherds, and feel real wool of a lamb.
December Memory Verse:
Today in the city of David, a savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

All family members are invited for cake, ice cream and punch. I have already sent information that explains the ministry that the children will be involved in during this party and details about a Cookie Walk in another communication. I do understand about an information overload! Sometimes it helps to emphasize information in a separate document. Please let me know if you have questions.

A NOTE FROM MRS. J
Dear Families,
I hope that you enjoyed the Christmas program Thursday evening. If you were not yet in the Christmas spirit, just looking at those beautiful, happy faces and hearing the joy in the songs sung should have sky-rocketed your Christmas joy well into the busy December days ahead. What a wonderful evening! Thank you for all you did to help that happen!
Blessings,
Kathie
